@ MindAblaze! Yeah with your abuse of Wild Pair it'd be nice to play Urabrask go grab the dragon, then let him die or sac him to get Pod. I think for you it might have more interaction/playability.
@ SSR_Komamura This short answer is I don't own one lol, but that's because I've never tried to fit it in here. Elvish Piper requires you not only have cards in hand, but creature cards. Sometimes I just simply run out of cards and I'm activating Mayael to throw down threats. While Quicksilver Amulet does the same thing for a higher cost, I have a cruel Mono-Black Control player in my playgroup who loves playing Contamination turn 2 or 3, and the Amulet provides me an out. Also I'm not a fan of mana dorks, or small guys for that matter, with boardwipes running rampant, so Piper loses to Amulet there too. Thanks for stopping by, and I'm glad you like the deck. I'm always looking for questions and comments, since this will always be a WIP.

I forgot to mention that with Scroll Rack , Sylvan Library , and Sensei's Divining Top I can usually manipulate my hand/topdeck to throw down Fatties with Mayael at will, while not losing any cards in hand. It's subtle card advantage. Even when I blindly activate Mayael, hitting a Fatty is card advantage.

I thought the name of my edh (Mayael, the Chubby Chaser)was unique-ish when I made it but oh well.... I like the build +1 for Mayael.

Lol that's funny, though to be fair it's totally unique. You have a comma in yours!

Hoarding Dragon is a bummer when it gets tucked by cards like Spin into Myth , exiled by cards like Cannibalize , or bounced by cards like Vapor Snag . Jus' sayin'.
Elvish Piper is a bomb. It can draw hate away from something you'd rather stick to the board, combines well with ramp to put out scary monsters early enough to get you far ahead or lock the board down, and combined with haste from something like Fires of Yavimaya can be a much more reliable cheat than Mayael the Anima . That being written, it suffers from all the same problems that other dorks do. I run one in my Mayael deck and it is rarely a dead card. In the wrong meta it might be terrible; without something similar to Avacyn, Angel of Hope on the board, all your guys die to Wrath of God anyways. It might be worth reconsidering since your deck runs card draw. One thing worth considering is that just like Mayael's activation, creatures cheated out with the piper can't be countered.
I find in my Mayael deck that Asceticism is redundant because I'd rather tutor up Privileged Position , and I rarely have the mana untapped to regenerate creatures. Regenerate just seems bad in EDH to me, considering how common spells are that ignore it. What do you think? I pulled it out of my deck a little bit ago. YMMV.
Considering all the ramp/fixing in your deck, and crazy powerful cards like exploration, I'm surprised you took out Temple of the False God ; I can think of plenty of times when that extra 1 colorless saved my butt.
Is Birthing Pod a good card in this deck? Seems like you are just trading a bomb for a bomb; perhaps trading a bomb for a more relevant bomb is exactly what you are looking for though... I'll have to think about this.
Anyways; I'm not tearing apart your deck by any means, just trying to offer constructive criticism. I like the idea that EDH decks are works of art that are also works in progress! Cheers.

You make some great points about Elvish Piper , so maybe if I can ever find a Knollspine Dragon I'll try it out. But as of right now, I don't think my card draw is strong enough to really make use of it.
Asceticism is totally redundant, and while I usually hate redundant things, I really like my creatures being safe from targeted things lol.
Temple of the False God was neat. It could give me an extra mana a turn earlier, but it was useless if it was in my starting hand and I had like 2 other land and Explosive Vegetation .
Birthing Pod is used exactly for that reason, Trading a bomb for a more relevant bomb. Also things brought in with Pod are not cast.
Pshhh tearing this apart? Don't sweat it, I like hearing everyone's opinions on how things interact or what they see as improvements. Besides There are definitely things in here that could be seen as weaker choices e.g.Steel Hellkite or Utvara Hellkite

My group plays with partial mulligans, with the first one free. This makes Temple of the False God much better.
How has Chaos Warp been? Do you have to be very careful how you use it?
If you don't mind; check out my take on this commander: mayael fo' sho'.

Yeah the partials would make Temple better, but we don't do that :(.
Chaos Warp has the same flexibility as Oblation , but if they flip a non-permanent they get nothing. Or I can use it on myself in times of need. I think its drawback is slightly less helpful, than Oblation if I use it on an opponent.

What do you guys think about the new Scry lands over the Painlands?
e.g Temple of Abandon over Karplusan Forest ?

I think any amount of top deck manipulation you can get is good. One offs probably wouldnt end up being redundant very often. That being said, your deck being as aggro as it is I'd be worried about the loss of tempo. They're probably worth a test to see how your gut reacts.

Off topic, I got a box of Theros and got Xenagos, Heliod, Nylea, Temple of Abandon, and Temple of Triumph, along with other goodies, Elspeth and 2 Thoughtseize. So I don't need to buy any more Theros lol. But I hadn't planned on trying them out unless I got them, and surprise I did.
I guess I'll just test them out, since pretty much everything that goes in here gets tested anyway.

Oh wow, this deck looks good. It is everything my Mayael deck wants to be. I am very grateful for you showing in your updates the cards you are switching for others, and your comments as to why. This is so informative for someone like me who is now only just adding these power cards to my deck. Keep up the good work, and thanks again for your advice on my dsck.
P.S. love the deck name.

I used to have Worldspine Wurm in here, but he just didn't compare to many of the other creatures in terms of value and usefulness. He was sorta just a big body that didn't do much besides beat. Many of the creatures in here are beaters no doubt, but they all have some form of extra value on them.
As far as Fling goes, I'm usually not looking to sac a dude just for some damage. My two sac outlets are Birthing Pod and Greater Good , which do a little more than just damage lol.

Have you considered Gruul Ragebeast for your deck? More often then not it's a straight out kill spell when it hits the field, along with every other creature after it.
Another thing I noticed is that you aren't running any bounce lands 'cept Rith's Grove . I'm assuming you did at one time or another, and it's the tempo that they really hinder and probably the reason you have them no more. However, I have had great fun with them late game bouncing back Spinerock Knoll to my hand and laying it down again next turn to get even more value from it. Just something to consider, as you are running two hideaway lands.

@TehRazorBack Gruul Ragebeast would be cool, but I dislike how he only hits creatures. It's a minor reason, but I can't bring myself to like him more :(.
I actually have been thinking hard about putting the Ravnica bounce lands back in, cause the guy who ran LD doesn't come around anymore lol. Besides the Hideaway lands they could reset Cavern of Souls as well, and with my Exploration effects I think it would be fine. Which lands do you think they would go back in over? I'm looking at the temples/painlands, they don't do much/the bounce lands will cover color needs, respectively.

Do your three Kamigawa lands work well in the deck? I've been looking at them in my local shop. They come in untapped, but do they really give that much of a benefit?

No, but I'm a huge nerd for Legendary things lol. Also we play where you can get points for different objectives, and we split the food/beer bills based off points. It helps to make sure everyone isn't gunning straight for a win. Eiganjo Castle does come in handy when people try to Jund Charm .

I am interested by these "Objectives" you say. Could you give some examples, or point to a site with more information on EDH objectives? Google searching found nothing sadly.
