The 2019 UPdraft! —Feb. 16, 2019

So, After taking a brief siesta from Commander, I decided to spoil myself a little. Thanks to a new job, I was able to buy a Booster Box of Ravnica Allegiance and essentially give every deck I have a shot in the arm. Note that while these changes are final, more changes may be added at a further date.

Name Change: Mayaelling at You ----------> Mayael, Master of Monsters: Fits a little better with my naming convention... also, You cant actually Mayael at someone, ya know? Changed to keep up with the times.

So without further ado~

Spellbreaker Behemoth -----> Champion of Rhonas While having some protection was nice, I found that the Champion was more versatile in that by letting me cheat out at least one creature, I would be leagues ahead of the rest of the table. After some brews, He is staying.

Fervor ------------------> Rhythm of the Wild Now I know what your thinking: But Cooz, Fervor is easier to get out in a 3 Color deck. While Normally, you'd be right, I prefer Fires of Yavimaya over this due to the potential saving of one of my creatures, and so Fervor was taken out and replaced with this shiny NEW card! Not only can I buff my utility creatures, but I can also give both Mayael and my other threats haste, AND it provides protection to my creatures (especially now that Spellbreaker is out). It is a much welcomed card.

Kazandu Refuge, Graypelt Refuge, New Benalia, Wind-Scarred Crag -----------------> Stomping Groundfoil, Temple Gardenfoil, Sacred Foundryfoil, Inspiring Vantage

SHOCKS SHOCKS, SHOCKS SHOCKS SHOCKS, SHOCKS SHOCKS SHOCKS SHOCKS {EVERYBODY!} With less tap lands, my mana acceleration grows. Plus, Skyshroud Claim and Ranger's Path have even MORE targets now. I couldn't be happier about these additions, as they make the deck a LOT better.

Rampaging Baloths ------------------> Beast Within

This was an old change I forgot to make a while ago. Essentially, as this deck moved away from making tokens, more removal was required.

Swiftfoot Boots -------------------> Lightning Greaves

I've found that paying for Haste during the later game can be a bit annoying. I'm constantly hungering for Mana to play my big spells, so Free haste has made the deck be more aggressive.

Soul of the Harvest ----------------> Etali, Primal Storm:

Yo okay like Etali is super bonkers. Like, I played a game where I was able to steal a bunch of dragons and cheat out Champion of Rhonas, where I then popped out Ulamog the Infinite Gyre. Etali is so fucking Bonkers. It's just... It's just bonkers. It's card draw. It cheats things out. It exiles lands. It's... It's nuts.

Giant Adephage -------------------> Void Winnower:

Void Winnower is so great... and while I do love Giant Adephage I think that this deck is more focused on going tall then wide, and I love how Void Winnower can just shut down a LOT of peoples decks and options. Its a great defensive option and it works well on the offensive due to its large attack power.

Darksteel Mutation ------------------> Lifecrafter's Bestiary:

So... Darksteel Mutation was around since the first iteration of this deck. It was great back in the days where tucking was allowed to deal with problematic commanders. But over the years.... It's gotten less and less effective. and its even backfired: A Strong creature can potentially survive a boardwipe and then have the enchantment removed, which lets a strong creature survive. With Beastiary, I am able to scry to set up draws and even draw cards when I cast creatures, which is always a bonus as I feel like the deck needs more draw sometimes.

More changes will be made in a later update!
