You may put on a Gaea's Revenge to pair with Vorinclex!
Also, where's your Quicksilver Amulet ? :)
Great deck! Now I'm inspired to try a Mayael deck!

Gaea's Revenge is just kind of lackluster. I try to not run creatures that do nothing on their own other than attack, and my curve is already kind of high otherwise I'd be more actively looking for pairs for Vorinclex. There aren't many though.
As far as Quicksilver Amulet goes; to put something in, something must come out. Any ideas?
Thanks for the vote!

Well, now you got me... I'm terrible in suggesting things out. Suggesting thing in is so easier!

what do you and ChiefWannaHacka think of Oath of Druids ? I dont like that it gives it to every opponent but when I play mayael, I usually have less creatures than most of my opponents and the ones we are dropping are (most likely) bigger. Its hard to tell if its bad or not. In 1v1, I think it could be killer.

I think it could work if you built around it. Like if you were playing with some GY recursion. Things like the Eldrazi, maybe Wheel of Sun and Moon , or get crazy with Conjurer's Closet /Mimic Vat /Sun Titan and Eternal Witness . You get a lot of value, cause you're prepared, and opponents have to make choices or just deck themselves by accident.

If you planned for it I'm sure it would be great. It's similar to Wild Pair in that it isn't a card you can just chuck into a list. I spent a little time tweaking my list for it though, and it's one of the strongest cards in my deck.
Mayael likes a good amount of recursion anyway since we tend to be victims of board wipes. I'd like to see it.

Must play Seedborn Muse. It allows you to use Mayael every turn. Also Winding Canyons is amazing in Mayael.

Winding Canyons seems like it could be not bad. I wonder though, is 3 mana too much to give a creature card flash?
ChiefWannaHacka and adt630, what do you guys think?
Seedborn Muse is awesome, I almost never find myself looking for her but I wouldn't leave home without. Great utility creature.
August 12, 2013 12:07 p.m.
You have a lot of color fixing and so I don't think it would hurt to try. Given the CMC of most of our creatures is 6+, I don't think it's practical for flashing in things from our hands but i can see it being used to flash Mayael back into play if she gets killed right before your turn.
I think it would probably have the greatest effect in your deck with Wild Pair out, you wouldn't need to play creatures on your turn but still get the pair triggers. I already use mayael mostly on other players turns but I think it would be worth it, to try at the very least, in your deck.

Have you looked into Wear / Tear instead of Hull Breach ? One extra mana to cast at instant speed
August 12, 2013 7:17 p.m.
MindAblaze says... #12
Hm....Interesting. I have a bit of a sentimental attachment to Hull Breach
, but I can see the value of the instant speed. By the time I cast it I pretty much always have extra mana laying around so the cost isn't a bit deal.
I'll keep my eye out for a copy and test it out when I find one. Thanks!

I think this deck has more than enough ramp to make 3 more mana to give flash isn't going to be a problem. It never is in my Mayael. Yes, the main reason for it is to flash in Mayael end of turn though. I have even used it to flash in rector as a blocker since it does have the nobody ever wants to kill it thing going on.

@ NinjaNate Yeah, I could see that. I cut a forest and added Winding Canyons to the list. The first time I saw it I didn't end up utilizing it, but it's going to get a good test run before I can say yay or nay.

You should probably take a look at other lands you can play. Krosan Verge, Temple of the False God, and Yavimaya Hollow are pretty good in this deck. Temple should be in just about every deck in my opinion.

As mentioned above, since you really abuse the Wild Pair engine, Winding Canyons will probably make an impact. Unlike in something like mine, that is more worried about getting fatties on the field, not casting them.

Krosan Verge is on my list of cards I'm looking for, another fetchland for some Sun Titan /Admonition Angel shenanigans is always welcome.
Temple of the False God is ok but I've never been blown away by it. I don't run a lot of lands, so waiting until I have five to skip to six or seven mana isn't always desirable. Regeneration is nice so Yavimaya Hollow seems like it could find a home. I want to be careful adding too many utility lands again 'cause I don't run too too many lands and I dont want my fetches to be dead cards.

Thank you for the advice on Bant Deck (EDH) I have implemented Evolving Wilds into it and indeed it kicks butt with Admonition Angel especially with Venser, the Sojourner 's +2. However when I playtested against this deck I found that mana is usually too aboundant for until I found creature fetch cards there was not a sizable threat creature wise. Oh well i guess we all see different things on playtested, as far as strategy goes you still need a little luck. I have replaced Ivory Mask with Privileged Position due to a wider range of protection however it's on the sideboard for mill decks. I have also acquired a Novablast Wurm that would fit well with my deck but I'm not sure what to replace it with. Could you let me know your opinion on these changes?

Maybe chord of calling and ascetism for redundancy? Birds back in as a GSZ target?
August 14, 2013 9:31 p.m.

Chord of Calling is definitely a great spell, but for my purposes GSZ works. This isn't to say I wouldn't swap it out for Chord if I came across one, but I don't know what I'd cut to run both. Its a little more expensive dollar-wise and to cast, although I should be able to reduce one of those with Convoke fairly easily. I'll keep it in mind at the next trade table.
Asceticism used to be in here, I just went for the straight-upgrade with Privileged Position . I spend most of my mana every turn so the Regen was only getting used in really niche situations and with Avacyn PP is almost always more desirable.
I have to say, since I cut BoP I don't miss it. My playgroup hates on mana dorks with their spot removal, and almost everyone runs some form of sweeper. It just got irritating losing the time casting removal bait that was supposed to accelerate my gameplan...it's too bad really.
Thanks for the thoughts!

Maybe you could cut Knollspine Dragon for the Chord? With the amount of creatures you have, you can get away with trading the lowest on the totem poll for another tutor to get a better one onto the field. Just my opinion in regards to the Knollspine though heh; he may be a silent MVP to you thanks to past events XD
On another note, I have a Thraximundar EDH that I've been looking to refine and I'd love another set of eyes to see if its current form for what I'm looking to achieve (control) is as intended, and if not what are some more viable choices to put into my deck. The Damned Few (name needs some work, just wanted to make it easier to link to).

I'd taken the dragon out before, but since I put it back in I've often drawn 6-8 cards with it and been in the position to draw upwards of 30 on more than one occasion. It's made me consider if I should be running Reliquary Tower actually. Plus it's a tutor for Sun Titan or Admonition Angel with Wild Pair out AND I can pod it into Avacyn. I just find that it has great synergy with my deck.
I run enough recursion that a couple cards sent to the yard off the discard are of minimal importance.

Ahh so he actually is a silent MVP lol More than enough of a reason to keep him in. As for Reliquary Tower , if you think you need it in there, the one that you could probably get away with taking out is the Razorverge Thicket because to me, it has the worse of the drawbacks (I dont count Jungle Shrine because it fixes all your mana sources).
August 14, 2013 11:35 p.m.
MindAblaze says... #24
I definitely agree with Razorverge Thicket being a cut. Between Savannah , Temple Garden and Sunpetal Grove its not needed. I've been looking at acquiring a Krosan Verge to put in instead because Admonition Angel is probably one of my favorite creatures ever...(super-efficient with Sun Titan beside it) and maybe putting Reliquary Tower in over Kessig Wolf Run . Wolf-Run almost never gets utilized.
August 15, 2013 12:36 p.m.
If your going to replace Wolf Run might as well be with Yavimaya Hollow. How often does it come up that wish you had a Reliquary Tower in play?
MindAblaze says... #1
I used to run Asceticism and actually upgraded to Privileged Position . While the regen is nice giving all my permanents hexproof I found to be more valuable.
