This may sound crazy but what would you say to cutting a plains for the tower?

I currently have 8 basic lands, 3 shocks and three ABUR duals for a total of 14 lands that can be pulled out by fetches. I run 9 fetchlands not including Sylvan Primordial s ability, Cultivate , Sakura-Tribe Elder and Yavimaya Elder . Reusing fetchlands with Sun Titan happens quite often and my concern is with all these ways to pull out lands, I don't want to reach a point where I can't use my fetches anymore.
That being said, if I was that far ahead I'm sure I could expend some resources to go find my Chromatic Lantern ...I'm sure cutting one Plains wouldn't be the end of the world. I'll put some thought into it

That, along with more consistency, is why most deck run 36-38 lands. There are just too many staple lands for each color/strategy. So I if I were you I would look towards cutting spells for lands. If you try doing this, find the card that feels the weakest to you in the deck and ask yourself if it is really helping your consistency by being there.

I don't feel like I have problems with mana for the most part. Between Mana Crypt , Sol Ring , Coalition Relic and Chromatic Lantern I'm usually fine for volume, plus I have a fair amount of card draw to guarantee I'm steadily hitting my drops. Combine that with Oracle of Mul Daya and Azusa, Lost but Seeking and my mana is very consistent.
I'm more concerned with utility lands at the moment and I feel like Kessig Wolf Run hasn't been contributing. As I said, Krosan Verge is another fetch that will add to consistency and being recordable with Sun Titan is just gravy. If Reliquary Tower just ends up tapping for colorless mana most of the time, it's doing the same as Wolf Run.
Thanks for your thoughts, I will be vigilant as far as this goes. If I find I'm running light on mana I have a few ideas of cards that are suspect.

Tower is a EDH staple in my opinion but then again I am building my decks with 36-38 lands. Have you ever thought about Praetor's Counsel for this deck? Also how do you do the card tags on here?

Cards are tagged by putting double square brackets around the card name.
[ [ praetor's counsel ] ] (without spaces)= Praetor's Counsel

are there any cards that would allow you to activate sorcery-speed abilities at instant speed? something like Hypersonic Dragon for abilities. that would let you "cheat" out cards with Birthing Pod .

Not that I know of. Something like Winding Canyons , Yeva, Nature's Herald or Alchemist's Refuge performs a similar function but again only for creatures or spells. Not abilities specified to work at sorcery-speed.
It would need to be something like "ignore timing restrictions until end of turn."
I think with the importance of my Pod that would be an autoinclude. It would be nicer if it was an enchantment though.

I've found that in my Omnath deck Garruk's Horde is an amazing piece of "draw power". He pairs rather well with Soul of the Harvest . Also, Primordial Sage could do some silly things here, I know that you are Mayel-ing things out but I'm sure you still cast creatures.

Well TBH Mayael sits on the bench most of the game anyway except for those random games where I need something to do turn 3 or 4. I end up casting the majority of my creatures (or Wild Pair ing or Podding into them) so Primordial Sage is interesting enough. I don't know what I'd swap out for it though.
I've considered Garruk's Horde before. Im looking at taking Iona, Shield of Emeria out because I need her for my deck The Knight of the Rising Sun and that would be a decent replacement. Fills in the Wild Pair pairing too for 2 less mana. I'm kind of attached to Iona though, so I'm hesitant to do anything permanently. What do you think?

Please can you delete some of the old updates - they're really confusing to read.
Cards that return things from graveyard to hand are generally not as strong as cards that return from graveyard to the battlefield. I would recommend Karmic Guide , it's extremely strong. You also have enough creatures with power 2 or less to make Reveillark not be a bad idea.

You have a point there. The old deck change updates are probably irrelevant.

I wish I could see what you commented! But I can't because you removed it!

So...what to replace then? Epoch would tell me he doesn't like Acidic Slime . I'm not particularly fond of Yavimaya Elder but it doesn't do the same thing as Karmic Guide ; it's "ramp" and draw at the same time. It's much better when Azusa or Oracle of Mul Daya is letting me drop multiple lands per turn. But often it's just a difficult to cast 2/1 that I can't do anything with until the next turn.
Do you think Reveillark is more necessary than any of my other creatures in that price-range? Sun Titan essentially does the same thing, without hitting Seedborn Muse and Elvish Piper but it does get any of my non-creatures. Paleoloth seems to be an option too...I dunno. I keep taking long looks at Warstorm Surge too but there have been so many situations where it results in blowouts...
I'm at a loss.

Lol. It was a point about cleaning up irrelevant updates. I took your advice but got didnt think to do it before I commented.

Epoch is both right and wrong. Acidic Slime is an amazing card if you've build a deck to revolve around ETB triggers (as I have). In my deck it can clear out all the opposing lands on the board by around T5. In another deck that isn't built to break the game so much - he IS slow and clunky.
For example - Viscera Seer + Saffi Eriksdotter + Acidic Slime + Reveillark .
This is a simple combo that is easy to pull of very quickly with some ramp. That's a good use of acidic slime. Any other use isn't so fantastic.
Well Reveillark + Karmic Guide together is incredible broken, but your deck doesn't revolve around infinite sacrifices so it's not suitable.
Karmic Guide is better than Reveillark so stick to that at first. I agree that Sun Titan is probably a little better than Reveillark in a non-combo deck.
I don't like Paleoloth because creatures going back to hand isn't great.

But isn't the point of your deck to NOT play things from your hand?
January 7, 2014 5:31 p.m.
I, personally, would use Mayael in a deck that could re order the top few cards so that I wasn't drawing high power creatures. That way I had control over the things I could cheat out and the cards that I drew were non creatures.
For example - you could use Sensei's Divining Top to try and never draw a creature but keep it in you library - then you can play it for 6 mana (is Mayael's ability 6? can't remember) instead of 8 or 9 or whatever.

Hm. If I was to find an Aura Shards to swap in for Hull Breach I could probably afford the Karmic Guide >Acidic Slime change. I'm just concerned about dealing with my opponents bastardy non-creature permanents, and I got hosed by my buddy's Maze of Ith and Mystifying Maze .
January 7, 2014 5:34 p.m.
Try and fit in Aura Shards , that's good (in this deck). Unless you find it gets removed all the time, in which case you may want to go back to Hull Breach . Just see how Aura Shards works out.
Run Strip Mine for land destruction. Because Strip Mine + Sun Titan is horrible.

Yeah, I hear you. Sensei's Divining Top makes her much better. What it comes down to is most games I don't even cast her. If I'm using her ability then often I've run out of steam or I'm so far ahead it's getting out of hand.
That being said, Scroll Rack does what you're describing very well and Sylvan Library helps too. I don't necessarily need the redundancy of the Top but in a deck like Mayael the Chubby Chaser I see the value.

Another thing that's great with Sun Titan is Safe Haven .
MindAblaze says... #1
Almost every time I want to go get Knollspine Dragon and occasionally when Regal Force hits the board.
It all depends on how I was able to spend my mana that turn, sometimes I can use a few of the cards I drew to get down to 7, sometimes I can't.
