I decided to go for that swap, Memorial out Aggravated Assault in...

Also, after playing a couple games decided I didn't like Sterling Grove very much. So I'm giving Fierce Empath a run. Sometimes I forget that the majority of my creatures are chosen with Wild Pair in mind.

You are aware that Wild Pair only triggers from creatures played from your hand, right? Mayael won't trigger it, Birthing Pod won't trigger it... Just stuff that you cast from your hand...

That's fine. The deck is built to compensate for that

Thanks!

I quite enjoy this deck, and the way everything stacks at times is kind of ridiculous.

I don't know if it's a bad idea or not (Since I have no idea what your meta is), but what about something like Dosan the Falling Leaf? It may not always do something, but when it works, it could potentially stop blue dead in its tracks. In addition, it's a creature that you could Birthing Pod for.

It's an interesting interaction. I just don't know what I'd replace for it. I'm currently wanting to find room for Rampaging Baloths and Thunderfoot Baloth.

I like Worldspine Wurm in a vacuum. A huge creature that turns into 3 decent sized creatures fits well with my Timmy. That being said, it doesn't fit this deck particularly well (other than having great synergy with Warstorm Surge.) My deck is primarily built around two main value engines, and one general philosophy. I want my deck to be able to recover from the inevitable board wipes, so I use Wild Pair to ensure that every creature I cast after a wipe will give me two creatures, and I use Birthing Pod to create a value chain of useful effects. The philosophy I'm talking about involves making sure all my creatures do something/have some effect on the board before they inevitably die, due to the pressure this deck can put on, and the tendency for players to run X for 1 sweeper effects to get rid of problems. While the wurm does have the effect of spewing (large) tokens when it dies, it doesn't fit in my pod chain, and doesn't pair up with any other cards P/T. As far as how it fits with the "creatures need to do something" philosophy; I want creatures that have some sort of enchantment style effect like Sigarda, Host of Herons, Urabrask the Hidden, Linvala, Keeper of Silence or Avacyn, Angel of Hope. Alternatively, I like them to do something when they a) attack, or b) enter the battlefield. Aurelia, the Warleader, Regal Force and Novablast Wurm all fit here. Lastly I have utility creatures that draw me cards or help me filter my mana, and the wurm doesn't help that either. Unfortunately it's just a 15/15 that turns sideways, and spews little wurms when it dies. While that's not bad, it just doesn't really make the cut.

I'm open to argument though, let me know what you think. Thanks for the feedback Chargingbadgerrrrrrrr!

I'm interested in why you aren't running Reveillark. In my opinion its good fodder for Birthing Pod and can fetch Linvala, Keeper of Silence with Wild Pair. Also, Trostani's Summoner is pretty fun to fetch with Wild Pair. I know you don't have alot of one ones in this deck or any way to bounce her, but I just had to mention her because she is, by far, my favorite card to get with Wild Pair. Sorry I couldn't just let her go unmentioned.

I believe you. In a different deck I'd run it for sure, considering I was already running it in my Roon of the Hidden Realm deck for awhile.

I just don't see Reveillarks LTB ability as being particularly relevant most of the time. I have a few good creatures with power 2 or less (I'm thinking Karmic Guide here) but I feel like it would be underwhelming a lot of the time as I only have 10 targets for it in total. I do like getting my Lotus Cobra back after they kill it though. What do you think?

Haha yeah I use Wild Pair and Trostani's Summoner in my Roon Deck. Wild Pair is pretty deadly if it sees play.

I completely forgot that it was power 2 or less. That does make It pretty underwhelming in this deck. I feel like Sun Titan/Karmic Guide Probably are better suited than Reveillark. I don't know why, but I thought you said you wanted more recursion somewhere in the description, but now I can't find it. If this isn't the case, please forgive me for suggesting so many recursion cards that don't really fit the deck haha.

If you are looking for more recursion, however, you could try Saffi Eriksdotter. It isn't as strong as Karmic Guide since the cards have to be on the battlefield to keep them there. I'm just thinking Karmic Guide and Saffi Eriksdotter would pair really well together since you can fetch either of them with Wild Pair and worst case scenario you just don't pay Karmic Guide's echo and name her then boom you can bring back 2 creatures. Then these two with Sun Titan would get real ugly.

Add in Karametra God of Harvests to pair up with Vorniclux

Karametra, God of Harvests is one I've been looking at. It's definitely in my maybeboard, but I don't know what I'd take out to make room for it as I don't feel like the effect is game breaking. It ramps after I cast a creature late game, and doesn't have any evasion as an attacker. It's interesting, but kind of fringe. What do you think?

If you have a sac outlet there are some fun things to do with the karmic guide and reveillark/sun titan...

I've considered Reveillark, but it always comes back to the fact that outside of a combo scenario it doesn't do enough for this deck. If I ever decide to put a Junk list together, I'd probably end up having some kind of graveyard shenanigans in it.

Greater Good has the potential to be insane in this deck- The ability to easily protect yourself from Wrath effects is invaluable, and this is probably one of the better ways to do so in a deck that plays a lot of big, expensive creatures.

MindAblaze says... #20

Between Privileged Position and potentially Greater Good I'd be in a great position.

I just don't know what to replace. I'm not hugely worried about wraths (or Mind Control effects,) as they're not particularly prevalent in my battlecruiser meta but I do have a copy just in case I find myself needing it.

If you're not sure what to cut, I'd suggest cutting Garruk's Packleader, Elvish Piper, Krosan Tusker, and Windbrisk Raptor at the very least. I just don't think they're powerful/fast enough for battlecruiser Magic, especially if targeted removal is abundant in your meta.

I suggest looking at my Marath deck, in alot of ways it looks like a Mayael deck but I prefer Marath as it allows me to run little to no removal outside of the commander.

@ KillDatBUG Elvish Piper and Windbrisk Raptor are staying though as the first one gets me stuff for cheap, and anything I use to protect Mayael I can use on the piper. In a slow moving clunky metagame, my fast mana fueled aggro/midrange deck tends to draw a lot of attention. I find I only have to swing once with Windbrisk Raptor and entourage to give me the space I need to keep up the pressure.

I've been back and forth on Garruk's Packleader and Krosan Tusker though. A couple of thoughts, passive draw over time is nice in a deck that after 5 mana puts out mostly creatures with high power. The tusker is almost always a Divination that draws me one land guaranteed and when I have 3 cards that let me play an extra land/turn (or two) it's usually a good play. Plus, in a pinch I can cast it with Wild Pair out to go get any number of cards in the 11 slot (or Vorinclex if I control Mirari's Wake.) I'm leaning toward swapping the packleader out if I'm going to run Greater Good, but I wonder if there's enough upside to justify it. I do kind of want to shoehorn a graveyard subtheme in here, and putting Greater Good and Paleoloth back in would fit nicely with Birthing Pod, Reya Dawnbringer, Survival of the Fittest and Karmic Guide...

Iona, Oracle, Hellkite Tyrant, Heliod. Survival, greater good

VS.

Titania, Protector of Argoth, Rampaging Baloths, Thunderfoot Baloth, Woodfall Primus, Paleoloth, Sarkhan Vol

The above are the cards that are in the deck list vs what's actually in the deck right now. Just for testing.

Dragonlord Dromoka can turn off any plans your opponents have counterspellwise. Also you could throw in Atarka, World Render who is just huge and has the ability to give your other dragons double strike. Mayael's Aria is also really good win con for any anima decks plus it gets extra points for flavor! Love the deck!!
