I cut out some of the fat in this deck to make room for some mana ramp, so I can quickly cast Ruric Thar, the Unbowed before my opponents have effective responses to him. Currently the cards in the mainboard are the ones I own and have in the rough start of the deck, while the ones in the maybeboard are ones I don't own yet, and the sideboard are cards I own and am considering. Which cards do you think would be stronger in this deck?
I'm still pretty new to EDH, so I'm not sure which strategies are the most effective.

You might want to focus more on the anti-creature hate power of your general. Run more creatures and "Don't mess with my crap" cards like Leyline of Lifeforce Asceticism , and Price of Glory .

Oh god, Price of Glory just looks... pardon the pun... glorious. Since creature spells can't be played on your opponents turn (for the most part, I'm looking at you, Yeva) and I have a small amount of creature ramp, this might be pretty awesome.
I need to find where I put my Asceticism... hmm...

Er, by creature ramp, I actually meant creatures that produce mana. I really should read over my posts before I click submit.

What do you guys think of it right now? I tend to win the one-on-one matches, but in multiplayer games I tend to be the target of all of my opponents' hate.

Looks good to me. You might also like Ulvenwald Tracker , Decimate and Joraga Treespeaker . If you plan on playing multiplayer I'd suggest Relic Crush .

I'd definitely run Flesh / Blood if it fit my color identity.

Well, there's Electropotence , Mage Slayer , and Gruul Ragebeast (and just the fight mechanic in general), if you're looking for something along the lines of the Blood half of Flesh / Blood .

A friend of mine recommended Warp World . While it seems like it might be good for this deck, it also seems like it would piss off every other player at the table. Does it?

As much as I love werewolves, I decided to take out Instigator Gang Flip and Kruin Outlaw Flip for more relevant cards, like Garruk Wildspeaker and Savageborn Hydra . I also picked up a Price of Glory , but am not quite sure where to fit it in right now. Since most of my cards aren't played at Instant speed (Yeva, Nature's Herald notwithstanding), it doesn't really harm my deck that much.
Also, I picked up a Werebear . Not for this deck, but because werebears are awesome.

What about Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs ? To me it looks like this deck was designed to have more creatures and less sorceries. Also, you look like you're running a little too much land. I mean in my 5-color deck I'm running less land than you. I'd cut it down to at least 36 what with how much ramp you're running.

My friends and I call him boardwipe dragon. He's a seven drop that's scary, but not a game-ender. I feel that if you're not playing creatures for free he's not worth it. If you're playing 7-drops, they better be ending the game.

I just edited my deck with a few of the cards I switched:
Elvish Archdruid , Skarrg Guildmage , Huntmaster of the Fells Flip , Gaea's Herald , Predatory Urge , Snake Umbra , Abundant Growth , and 1x Mountain
out for
Armed / Dangerous , Zhur-Taa Ancient , Spellbreaker Behemoth , Fyndhorn Elves , Gruul Cluestone , Price of Glory , Zhur-Taa Druid , and Darksteel Ingot
Were any of these swaps a really bad idea?
May 5, 2013 2:31 p.m.
I just got a Warp World , Fumiko the Lowblood , Balefire Dragon , and Blasphemous Act . Do you guys think they'll do well in this deck?
May 6, 2013 3:59 p.m.
I have absolutely no impulse control. I got a foil Domri Rade instead of something I actually needed for this deck. >_<At least the most memorable Gruul cards I have (Ruric Thar, Domri, and Borborygmos) are all foiled now.

Whenever a player casts a non-creature spell, Ruric Thar deals 6 damage to that player.
That is the phrase that makes Ruric Thar, the Unbowed a unique and worthwhile commander, and that is what your deck should be built to maximize. Essentially, you need a lot fewer noncreature spells and a lot more creatures. Your noncreature spells should either be powerful enough to be worth an additional 6 life or be intended to be cast before Ruric Thar hits the battlefield (and not clog your hand too much if you draw them after he does). Especially with cards like Primal Surge and Domri Rade , I'd try and play 50 creatures. The Leylines, the Lightning Bolt , Ground Assault , Firespout , Revenge of the Hunted , etc. are fun cards, but can ultimately get cut in favor of your theme.
