Thank you so much Lama for taking the time again to check in on my set up. Yeah Flash spirits, and Indestructible are hilariously good. Then on top of that counter spells for cheap, and ping I the air at the same time...YES PLEASE!

I was thinking the same exact thing about Thalia last night haha, like "should I do the playset or test out 3 of the new?" Then it was like 2 AM, and my girlfriend wanted to go to sleep.

Thank you so much for the feature coin man, I will put it to good use as soon as I clean up this list a tiny bit more.

Is Mausoleum Wanderer good? I mean, I get it's a Force Spike on a body, which is sweet with Vial, but isn't it just not impactful enough?

When he's an indestructible 3/3, that can be sacked instead, to counter a spell it does show some impact..

In my testing:

I've had this guy either stop a deck in its path, or leave open a valuable counterspell that plays mind games with the opponent.

Mausoleum Wanderer is the best thing since sliced bread. I love him too much.

With only 9 spirits and 9 blue mana sources in what is essentially a mono-white deck, is the Mausoleum Wanderer really worth it as opposed to simply running Judge's Familiar? I mean, yeah, occasionally you MIGHT get it to a 2/2 or very, very rarely a 3/3, but usually it's just going to be a Familiar that demands you have mana symbol u on turn 1 in order to play it. If it were me I'd just run the Familiar.

On that same note, I just realized that you have 16 blue or splash-blue cards in this deck. I realize that the AEther Vials definitely smooth things out, but do you not ever find that you have issues with having blue mana available in the early turns? Maybe throw in a couple of Flooded Strands or Windswept Heaths? I also don't understand the singleton Mystic Gate because your deck doesn't have any cards that require mana symbol umana symbol u--it doesn't really do anything that another w/u dual land couldn't also do, and it's useless if, for instance, Ghost Quarter is your only other land.

The original shell had Familiars in it, and they served the same purpose that the wanderers do, but yeah, that chance of being 2/2 or very rarely 3/3 proved to be better. (At least to get that last couple points of damage) In a handful of matches I've had this guy be the deciding factor with a Geist Swing.

Also, I have 12 spirits in the deck. (3 Queller, 2 selfless, 4 M&Ms, and 3 Gheists.)

As for the fetchlands, well..Always, ALWAYS play the arbiter turn two, so that why. I mean, if certain matchups that wouldn't be the best option, but in my local meta its what has been standing out the most-- apart from Meddling Mage or Thalia.

The mystic gate question has some very valid points. At first I had Kira in the area, then moved her to the sideboard...eventually removing her all together. So perhaps I'll find something else to replace it with.

As for the early mana question: needing a blue source. Yes, I have had issues with getting mana symbol u mana early on, but usually only on by draws or Mulligans to 5 or less.

I butchered some of that, but I think you'll get the gist Rusty_Shackleford.

Its really late, and I could barely keep my eyes open while writing that ha!

Anyway...yeah, Mystic Gate is something to replace. I'll see about adding floodeds in for turn 1 certainty of mana symbol u.

@Rusty_Shackleford & Mortem

Judge's Familiar is more splashable and is a good card. The only thing is that, aside from the splash, Mausoleum Wanderer is strictly better even without a dedicated tribe surrounding it. I liken its power to something like Noble Hierarch or Bloodghast. Innocuous value on the cheap. Being able to scale Force Spike on a flying body for one mana is stupid. Even if you're not doing it all the time. It's value either way you slice it.

BoCaliv Admittedly, there are better ways to use Wanderer. However, for the purposes of the deck, there is nothing better you could be doing with that slot. Nice adds with the spirits. Nice to finally have counterspells on bodies. Nice to see them be impactful outside of tribal angle. I love your hatebears builds. Fetches and shocks and this will be much more consistent. Maybe 2 Flooded Strand, 2 Hallowed Fountain, and a basic of each color in place of 6 plains.

I've been fine-tuning the mana all morning, and I think I found the winning combination!

Flooded Strand T1 for Vial into T2 Arbiter is glorious. Thinning out the deck, and hating back..why haven't I been doing this all along!?

Happymaster19 got it spot on about the wanderer and its slot in my deck. Yes, there are much better ways to use it, but I've been having great results in at least consistently having a 2/2...and that's what I am all about.

MOAR BEARS!!!!!! all dem 2/2 belong to mehhhhhhh! ....... Sorry I'm a bit high right now, and exhausted from a long morning of Database classes. OH! also Moorland Haunt is great at getting wanderers to 3/3 on those special SUPER RARE occasions, and that alone is worthy of a slot. :P

Thank you though for the great input, and hopefully with some more tuning I can fully embrace this as my main deck and platform into Azorius style Hatebears.

Great primer with a fun twist to it! Been looking for a new build with U/W and since i have a spirit tribal deck this feel very natural to get into, looks super fun!

Would Unsettled Mariner fit in the deck? It is a soft tax but it fits into the spirit of the deck and protects your permanents or is it a bit redundant?

Good ol' spirits... have you thought of updating this at all? I'm imagining the new Flare of Denial could play pretty well in here...
