Yeah, sorry Apoptosis haha. Well, I'm not exactly sure what I would take out for him. Usually as soon as I hit for extra with Medomai it's good game, but if you can think of what to take out, I'm all ears :P.

Jace, Memory Adept over Ral Zarek ? You need to build up to get Ral Zarek 's ultimate off through extra turns (which gives you even more turns), but how often do you pull this off? In contrast, Jace, Memory Adept allows the mill machine to quickly grind away 10 cards per extra turn as a dual threat, which forces the opponent to decide: kill Medomai the Ageless and stop the face beating (but get closer to milling out) or kill Jace, Memory Adept and continue to get smashed. I used Ral Zarek in my american control deck AEther-Reckoner's Army for awhile and only once won me a game. Don't get me wrong, he's good but there might be better options, in my case ultimately I switched and greatly preferred Jace, Architect of Thought (whose -2 mini Fact or Fiction was always great when I needed to dig). Maybe keep 2x Ral Zarek or 2x Lightning Strike in the sideboard. The latter helps more with aggro. and I can't see when you would want Ral over Jace, Memory Adept . You deck is designed to stretch the game, where Jace can shine (and it's scary to watch your library disintegrate). It's just a thought, ultimately I think you'll have to playtest both to really discover what works best. Hope this helps.

Ral Zarek works MUCH better in the deck than Memory adept. :PI could understand adding in an AEtherling but Honestly, when you swing with a double striking Medomai, 2 times in a single combat, it should be game. 16 there, and then additional 6 from Aurelia. :P

Mello.Mel what you described does not demonstrate Ral Zarek 's worth in this deck. Explain why Ral's better. Jace's +1 gives you card advantage, and his 0 is a mill condition that needs to be addressed. Yes, Medomai and Aurelia can pound face, that's the primary win-con. What if the opponent has blockers that neutralizes the attack? Thassa, God of the Sea , might deal with this but it might not. AEtherling is a good option too. What if this deck is up against a pillowfort deck? What if Aurelia gets slaughter games? or if the opponent has pro-white? or a ton of creature removal? Jace gives a another win-con at very little to no detraction, only coming out against aggro.

Well, you've convinced me, Apoptosis haha. Jace is in.

Ok, I just did a quick playtest and Jace, Memory Adept was a mill machine with the extra turns. I have no idea whether there will be enough consistency or whether it would be more optimal to really make it a mill oriented America deck, but I'm getting that tingly feeling that we might be onto something really broken.

I'm curious as to how you can create infinite turns, doesn't Medomai's second ability prevent it from attacking on extra turns therefore making it impossible to do combat damage on any except the first? I can see that you could create a few turns with other cards but yeah haha.

Well, if you have Aurelia out, you get two combat steps on your first turn. This alone is 2 extra turns. Then, if you give Medomai double strike (with the boros charms) you get one extra turn for each hit (that means we're at 4 extra turns with Aurelia). Then, if you have a Strionic Resonator out, you can trigger once (or more times if you're running hidden strings) to get another extra turn. At 5 extra turns and a total of 16 damage just from Medomai, that's usually GG.

But assuming aurelia just hit the battlefield, we're talking about 10 mana to pull it off.

also you're assuming your opponent doesn't have any cards to respond with, the more steps you have to achieve a win con the more things you can mess up

Considering Medomai the Ageless is legendary you would be better off running 3 as opposed to 4. Consider adding another Magma Jet , Mizzium Mortars , or Boros Charm !

I like the Medomai and Aurelia combo, giving you 3 combat phases. That is a lot of potential damage.

may I suggest Gift of Immortality or Indestructibility as a side board in case they have a lot removal to protect your win-con?

Memory adept is win more in this deck. I'd put him as a sideboard option against control

smallguy says... #19

just enchant medomia with Fire Whip or Hermetic Study or Psionic Gift or something. infinite damage plus infinite turn right there.

here's a deck with infinite damage, infinite instant, infinite mana, infinite power/toughness, and infinite card drawing all rolled into one:

this deck is blistercoil weird.

Wasted a lot of peoples time deleting all the comments, last time I ever look at one of your decks.

Wait, what? Haha, I'm sorry but I don't understand! I took time and looked at every single on of those comments and I can still go and look at them if I need to reconsider.

September 27, 2013 6:29 p.m.

Wabbbit says... #24

And a lot of the comments were already addressed, so I didn't feel the need to re-comment. As you can see, I also decided to keep all four Medomai, as I want to be able to draw him consistently. I'm sorry if I offended you in any way by not replying to your comment.
