I like the deck, but the mana curve is kinda high. Have you used this deck? if so, how does it turn out?

Just looking at the board I see two problems: First, you should try to stay near the 60-card mark. Second, you should try to use playsets or multiples. When you go over 60 cards or use one of a lot of different cards rather than a lot of a few different cards, your deck becomes much more inconsistent.
Next, focus on your synergy. If you want to take advantage of lifegain as a mechanic, you need to consider how much each card in this deck helps you work toward that goal. For example, Apex Hawks does nothing to help you with lifegain. Angelic Arbiter has a nice effect and it's an alright-sized creature, but it's also very expensive to cast.
I would go for weenie lifegain and aggro. You could use Temple Acolyte , card:Soul's Attendant, Soul Warden , Suture Priest , Kitchen Finks , Knight of Meadowgrain , Lone Missionary , Serra Ascendant , and Lightkeeper of Emeria are relatively small, cost-effective creatures that have great lifegain benefits.
Don't worry about having overly-expensive cards for the top of your curve. Focus on making it perform at the lower level first.

Yes, I use this deck every time I play my friends. about 90% of the time i beat them with life well over 80. if i attach Celestial Mantle to any of my flying creatures and i have Boon Reflection out it is an instant quad life. And when i put out my Felidar Sovereign and my life is over 40 i win. so, just imagine that i have 2 boon reflections out, and i have already equipped a flying creature with a celestial mantle. thats double life x4, so thats 8x my life total right there ;)

Thanks, I will definitely take that into consideration Epochalyptik!

yea to bad you dont win 90% of the time. I totally have kept up with you and beat you with my knights, and vamps. i beat austin and stephen with my vamps and i ended the game with 178 life

it may not be 90% of the time i play "you", per say... but 90% of the time that i use that deck its a win.... or very close to it. even when i do lose to you sometimes, the game is incredibly close, you must admit.

purity is necessary if your curve is that high. might as well add martyr of sands and serra ascendants and make it like a semi martyr proc deck.

@jahosephat17 i literally just purchased 2 martyr of sands like 3 minutes before i read this lol. and this deck is mostly still in the works untill i can get me some good lg cards.

I think Rest for the Weary is better than Angel's Mercy. Also lowering the mana curve will probably help, maybe by removing some more expensive creatures and making room for Serra Ascendant and/or Martyr of Sands. Right now the average CMC is 4.11, and getting it down to around 3 might be a good goal. I also agree with Epochalyptik that it would be good to try to trim it down to around 60 cards, and to get rid of non-synergistic cards like Apex Hawks and Squadron Hawk. Iona, Shield of Emeria and Angelic Arbiter also don't really fit with the theme, and are also reallllly slow.
Besides that, maybe -2 Plains and +2 Kabira crossroads. Anyway, sorry for the long post; looks like the deck is coming along. +1 from me

-1x pacifism, -1x luminous wake, -2x kemba's skygaurd, -1x lightkeeper of emiria, -both your artifacts, -4x angel's mercy, - Serra Angel. +2x Ajani's Pridemate to bring you up to 4. Some cards you might want to replace them with: Serra Ascendant, Martyr of Sands,Rest for the Weary, Knight of Meadowgrain, Righteousness (makes your 1/1 lifelinkers into 8/8s, killing all attackers and gaining you a ton of life). Best of luck :)

thanks alot guys, i really appreciate the comments. i have taken out some suggested cards and am working on acquiring the needed cards. i am however keeping the 4x Squadron Hawk for 1. they are good starting dummy blockers and 2. it makes it very easy to get Celestial Mantle out pretty quick. and as for angels mercy, why would Rest for the Weary be better?
and thanks again for the suggestions. keep em coming. i will update my deck as soon as my cards come in.

could you not put an Emeria, The Sky Ruin in there for a late game revival? I'm not saying make your deck around it but getting 7 plains in play shouldn't be that much of a problem for you and it always gives you a strong edge in the match. I have to agree that Rest for the Weary is better than angel's mercy. It has a much cheaper casting cost (which will help your mana curve a lot and open up some room for other spells that turn) and if played with landfall you gain more life. True, with no landfall you only get 4 life but you already gain enough life in this deck that it shouldn't be a deal breaker. I don't like your sunblast angel, I know you have him to clear the board but...meh... perhaps put something like Divine Reckoning instead and change the angel into something cheaper and more with your theme. Dunno, just an idea but I like i so far.

ok, i have taken in most of the suggestions and this seems to be my final draft of all the cards that are going to be added to the deck. +1 and comment and let me know what you think.

If you already have all these cards...I'd like to play this deck against my vamps...then against my zombies when I get the cards I need for it. I think it would be good competition if you get the right draw.... and bty...90% of the time MY FOOT!!!! lol
February 1, 2012 5:49 p.m.
you mixed my wording up wrong my friend. the 90% part was referring to IF i win, 90% of the time the life total is over 80. you know what im sayin.

lol...yeah...everybody get's a good draw and can do that once in a while. I'm just "bustin yo chops" though. It's a good deck that I think will get tweaked more as you play with it more. I thought my vampire deck was near perfect several times and I'm STILL changing it up every now and then, lol.
BTW...if you got a lot of "newer" quality cards, I'd invest in some card sleeves. After playing with my vamps for so long, their quality has taken a beating! I know that has nothing to do with this website but I wanted to tell ya! lol

yeah, my myr deck is like brown and crusty on the edges because that was my first deck ever and i used it so much. I definitely need some sleeves, I have a few here that you gave me, but I just need a few more.
