Seems interesting. Dead Weight could be a possibility, as well as Kozilek's Return or Radiant Flames

add 2 Radiant Flames over Avacyn's Judgment?

DrFunk27, could I also get your opinion here? I've been playing some games on Trice and have been doing rather poorly hah. Some are just misplays, but it feels pretty clunky.

I think To the Slaughter goes SB. You need 4 Impulse to keep them off creatures the first couple turns. I think you need to play 4 Grasp of darkness. It's the best removal in black right now. I also think a 2/2 split on Concoction and Vessel of Malignity is good. I'm giving you +1 for the name alone because it's EXACTLY how I feel about standard.

Agreed with Slaughter / Impulse. Where do I find the room for the two other Grasps?

I understand radiant flames, but I don't think it's necessary MB. It definitely comes in against tokens.

Hmm I can see that. Do you think this deck is worth trading into? While I don't care much for the format, I'd at least like the possibility at winning games haha.

ducttapedeckbox You don't have enough discard effects for Temper to be better than Impulse. Impulse is just a clean answer to a lot, especially with Demon enabling delirium/spell mastery.

Good point. I guess I don't have that many discard outlets.

+1 for the title, since Standard is pretty meh currently :)
As for whether demons or dragons, I would suggest trying a mix of them, personally.
June 26, 2016 12:32 p.m.
I would keep Mindwrack Demon and remove Heir of Falkenrath Flip for Thunderbreak Regent. Heir wants to be played in an aggressive deck playing Fiery Temper...that's not what this deck is trying to do.
I'm also not sure about K-ommand. It doesn't do much against tokens and other aggro strategies, which is most of the meta. There are enough x/3 creatures that I'd remove it for more Grasp of Darkness and Ultimate Price or Fiery Impulse (EDIT meant Lightning Axe you already have 4 Impulse).

That's a great point, TheHroth. I've been finding Heir to be pretty underwhelming. Going to make some changes, let me know what you think :)

I ran a Rakdos control deck with Dragons and having Kolaghan as a 3 of was awesome. Thunderbreak, while easily removed makes them pay for removal which is awesome. I like the addition of Sin Prodder here but I would urge you to cut the Mindwrack Demons and add 2 Chandra, Flamecaller and another Ob Nixilis. This deck has 2 extremely fatal flaws for a control deck though, no man lands and no way to stop enchantments. To fix that find a color you like, either Green, White, or Blue and run that so you can have man lands, access to other planeswalkers like Gideon, Nahiri, and Sorin with white other Dragons like Dragonlord Silumgar and Icefall Regent in blue, or access to Atarka in green as well as man lands like Hissing Quagmire, Shambling Vent, Wandering Fumarole, or Needle Spires! Manlands are the difference in grindy games most times and allow you to do damage while the board is clean against a mirror. As well this gives you the ability to get full value from Radiant Flames.
Also Dark Petition is an awesome card that I wouldn't discredit as a 1-2 of in any black control build allowing you to put 1 Mainboard Virulent Plague or any other card you might need. Mainboard Virulent plague changes games against token decks and having 1 possibly dead card out of 60 isn't going to kill you and makes it easy to board out. If it is a dead card.

I appreciate the feedback, MagicMike77, but note that this is a budget deck. I'm avoiding buying into cards that are valuable solely for their Standard performance, as well as cards I won't use in Modern. This includes Chandra, Nahiri, Gideon, and Sorin. If I were to splash, it would be for white as it has the best removal and ability to deal with Enchantments. Shambling Vents is also the manland I'd look to. Sorin is also the most likely addition, although Nahiri would also be great. Just not interested in buying into them.
I'm still testing the demon but have really liked the Dragons so far. Would also like to look to Draconic Roar for more removal. Thoughts on where that could come in (and if it should)?

I ran Draconic Roar because the value you can get off it is great. It's some of the best early removal in standard currently. If you were to get planeswalkers I would urge Gideon and Sorin. Chandra is nice but Gideon is the best Planeswalker in standard and is easily useable in modern as well.

@ MagicMike77- Where do you think I could fit the Roars? I'm might look at a Sorin or two, but Chandra and Gideon are not worth picking up in my situation.

I would cut impulse for them, impulse is meh at best if they aren't running Mono White humans or vamp Aggro

SomethingRandom, Wabbbit, DrFunk27, TheHroth, could I get some help tweaking for my local LGS's meta? I went to FNM last night (didn't play this deck, borrowed one) and the meta was as follows:
- 3 Ramp (one typical took 3rd, one oddball with Goggles that took 1st, one oddball that's eh)
- 1 GW tokens
- 1 White Weenies (maybe, GW Token's second deck which I played last night and took 2nd)
- 1 BR Vampires
- 1 UW Thopters
- 1 UR Thopters (4th)
- 1 Mardu something
- 1 GB Delirium
I swapped Radiant Flames into the main, and picked up a Languish. Not sure if it's necessary. I'm still missing the Walkers, so I need temporary replacements.

I like Flaying Tendrils against tokens, weenies and thopters. You will need a full 4 Transgress the Mind to deal with ramp. I play 2 main 2 side.
The other decks you should be fine against with the usual removal.
Question though, did you not take this because it isn't finished?

Thanks DrFunk27, as always! Flaying Tendrils sounds good. Maybe over Dead Weight? Is it needed with Virulent Plague?
I can replace the two Walkers with Transgress the Mind for the time being, until I pick them up. I'll find the other Transgress as well.
Yeah, I was missing quite a bit. Managed to pick up the Kommand, second Kolaghan, and most of the non-basic lands last night. Friend ordered the remaining bulk, and my Thunderbreak Regents + some came from Emblemman today.
Fun fact: Thunderbreak Regent's name in Russian looks like Peter (something). So he's now Peter. (There's no R, but close enough).
