I like this deck a lot, but i don't think it qualifies as an 8-rack deck for it has no racks

JacobAGrossman says... #2

The racks are Melira and Anafenza, Redcap and Finks, Seer and Aristocrat, and Collected Company and Congregation at Dawn

So the deck plays well, almost too well. But it's only vulnerability is removal. Should I run less removal or less search in favor of more hand disruption, like Inquisition of Kozilek, to get rid of opponent removal?

'Rack's refer to The Rack and other cards that do similar things. Hence 8-rack ran 8 copies of it, Vice, the 1 mana black enchantment thingy, ect ect. 'Rack' does not mean combo piece or redundancy, which is what I get ghe impression you think it is.

Thank you for the clarifications on how to define decktypes everyone, but does anyone actually have some constructive criticism for the deck itself?

Maybe would Qasali Pridemage in the sideboard work better than Reclamation Sage? That way, you could grab it with Glittering Wish. Also, it may be good to have/move a Congregation at Dawn to the sideboard to grab with Glittering Wish for consistency. Otherwise, I really like it, it plays really well!

I actually really like all of that, thank you! Making changes now :)

You could always use Bloodthrone Vampire as an alternative for Cartel Aristocrat. It works as a win con on it's own. Or you could use the two of them in tandem to give Bloodthrone Vampire--along with either Kitchen Finks or Murderous Redcap--protection and swing for infinite.

Oh nice! I like that one, too! I was mostly using Cartel Aristocrat for the fact that it's multi colored. But MB I definitely like the combo of Cartel and Bloodthrone. Thanks!

Do I need a draw mechanic to maximize Congregation at Dawn? Was thinking of Dark Confidant, because he draws an extra card and is a creature that can be fetched by either Congregation at Dawn or Collected Company. But, Idk where I'd put Bob, because Spellskite works super well MB, and would be the only thing I can think of to sub out for Bob. But Idk what I would do with the SB then. It's all so confusing.

Let me do some play testing cause it seems like company and congregation should be enough to gather your combo pieces. I run a similar Abzan style deck without a draw engine and it's a pretty consistent turn 3 or 4 win.

I'm only concerned about Congregation putting things on top of the library, as opposed to my hand or in play. I'm sure the overall acceleration of the deck is fine. But either way, appreciate it man, let me know what you come up with.

Seriously appreciate the love you guys, the feedback is great. But seriously, anything to change? Even the land pack or the side board, any suggestions help. Trying to take this deck to a tournament :D

Okay, I've done some testing and I think you should replace Congregation at Dawn with Chord of Calling. Both of them have instant speed, but calling has convoke and allows you to place your combo piece on the battlefield rather than on the top of your deck.

Haha...That's the card that was in the deck I faced...You're gonna have so much fun with this deck...It already works.

Well obviously Congregation needs to stay SB to be Wished for. But idk how much I want to replace the 2 main for Chord. Chord requires creatures in play to be tapped, probably around 2. And tapping creatures like Spellskite or the Seer won't contribute to the mana cost of Chord. But Congregation can get up to 3 creatures with no restrictions. Just sayin'.

The only discrepancy between Calling and Congregation is that the former is much faster when searching for a piece of your combo that you need and can win you the game the turn you use it since none of the abilities of creatures you are using for the combo are effected by summoning sickness. Also their abilities trigger even if they're tapped. For instance if you have Anafenza, Kin-Tree Spirit and Bloodthrone Vampire on the field; then you play Chord of Calling and tap the two creatures--along with 5 extra mana sources--to grab Murderous Redcap and then activate the combo you've just won the game, unless a combo piece gets removed. Congregation at Dawn forces you to wait until your next draw phase to get your combo piece. Like you said it's not useless, in fact it's quite good, I'd put one Congregation in your sideboard to set up for your combo with Glittering Wish.

Trying out one of each of Chord of Calling and Congregation at Dawn, just like with one of each of Bloodthrone Vampire and Cartel Aristocrat.

Anyone have any more updates? Trying to bring this deck to the SDCC in just a few days :D

i have been working on a deck simliar. Glittering Wish is a very interesting tool, and I am quite curious on it. How has this deck performed since your last dated comment?

October 28, 2015 2:32 a.m.

Not really performing as smoothly as I like these days. Could really use a fresh pair of eyes on this thing

November 22, 2015 12:21 a.m.

Alright so switched things up a bit. Slightly updated the land pack. Took out Chord of Calling, sorry, Callmegkill. Added in another Congregation at Dawn. The reasoning is, in order to have two pieces of the combo out, and try for the third on that turn for the win, it would have to be at least turn five and I would have to have at least five mana. The only drawback to Congregation at Dawn is having to draw. But odds are I'll be able to in time, and it's instant speed, and worse-case scenario, I have Horizon Canopy and Collected Company to draw. Also messed around with the sideboard a bit, added in Maelstrom Pulse, Guttural Response, and Fulminator Mage.

Also, thnk you for the great feedback Superllama12, Callmegkill, RedJokr, and BryanAnthony! :)
