If I understand Unearth correctly it exiles the creature if it would leave the battlefield unless it would be exiled by another effect, in which case it is allowed to be exile. Have you considered using Conjurer's Closet to keep Unearthed creatures?

Hey Ruffigan, you're perfectly right about unearth. Conjurers Closet has been in here but I've cut it since it fills the same role as Sundial of the Infinite and is much more mana intense. Thanks for the Input though!

Very cool deck, +1

I've been making a Sedris deck myself, though more focused on EtB and replication of EtB, and hadn't considered using Sundial of the Infinite to dodge Unearth, instead using higher costing blinks like Nephalia Smuggler and Conjurer's Closet. Definitely going to give the ol' Sundial a try.

Gotta say though, Purphoros, God of the Forge + Sedris, the Traitor King is a bomb combo, especially with things like Sepulchral Primordial.

Depending on how things go I may end up just making a lower-budget version of this deck for personal use, it seems to work more reliably than mine.

First off, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness ftfw. Second, Conjurer's Closet brah. You get to keep the creatures you Unearth off Sedris or any one of your other Unearth creatures.

Teferi's Veil skips your end step and thus Unearth's exile effect. Also lets you dodge boardwipes.

November 23, 2015 8:56 a.m.

@Jazzyboy what. that's actually a card? dude I need one of those.

Well, to be more accurate; it phases your creatures out whenever they attack so that they don't exist until your next turn. As they don't exist during your endstep, Unearth's exile effect can't trigger.

And as your creatures don't exist during your opponent's turn if they're phased out, sorcery-speed board-wipes don't hit your creatures.... because well, they're not there to be destroyed.

So yeah, it is an amazing card. Only disadvantage is that it means that if your creatures attack, they don't exist as blockers. But in a deck revolving around Unearth, that's not really a problem :P

@Jazzyboy

Unfortunately, that's not how phasing works. When a creature phases, it never actually leaves the battlefield; it's only "treated as though it doesn't exist". Look it up. I was originally going to run Teferi's Veil in my own Sedris brew until I found out Phasing was just as bad as everyone said it was.

I know it never leaves the battlefield. That's why it does work with Sedris. If it did leave the battlefield, then it would be exiled instead due to Unearth's effect. But because it never actually leaves and is just 'treated as though it doesn't exist', Unearth can't exile it at all until it phases back in.

Teferi's Veil is awful in many decks because 1. It phases your blockers out and 2. Your creatures never actually leave and reenter after the rulings update, so it can be used for very few combos. However, it can still be used to abuse endstep effects like Unearth's.

@Jazzyboy, malincar, canterlotguardian:

Thanks for the input guy! It's actually how Jazzyboy describes it, Teferi's Veil does work in a way that I still can keep the creature. What it does not remove is the replacement effect since the game recognizes the creature as the same object though. So if it leaves the battlefield, it's going straight to exile instead of anywhere else. And that's also why Ghostly Flicker is so amazing here btw...

However the deck's focus is rather that "draw/discard/punish you" thing I described and that's also why Teferi's Veil and/or Conjurer's Closet are not in here. Perfectly playable but just not what I'm going for...

I'm too much of a Magic newb to give you feedback on the deck, but the name is awesome.

+1 from me. I have a lot of love for wheels and grixis, I like this take on in. Have you ever thought of using/testing with Notion Thief? He helps Dack Fayden turning him into a Mind Rot and Divination each turn. Thats really my only suggestion. Heres my grixis wheels deck, I would appreciate your input Nicol Bolas' Machinations.

Thanks man, Notion Thief looks tempting though quite a little fragile. I've included him in my Oloro deck already and I'll see if he fits in here too.

Haha, welcome to the team mate!

January 29, 2016 4:53 a.m.

i'd be careful with notion thief as the draw is mandatory. a lot of blue players i know run Consecrated Sphinx and will just use it to instantly kill you by passing turn to the next player to draw.

also im wondering why there is the Worldgorger Dragon Animate Dead infinite loop in there without anything to combo off it unless im mistaken?

it just seems an unusual choice.

Hey ForgeCityGames, first of all, thanks a lot for your input! Also, you've got Oona, Queen of the Fae, Geth, Lord of the Vault as well as Piranha Marsh and Nephalia Drownyard to combo with Worldgorger Dragon. Should you be adead in life total you could even end things with Thrashing Wumpus...

April 12, 2016 3:16 a.m.

Ah! thanks chilbi, i completely missed the fact it brings in all the land untapped. usually i see that combo with something like Warstorm Surge or another ETB, and we try not to run infinites at my LGS so didnt even occur to me that it creates infinite mana :P. thanks for pointing that out.

Nice deck, how does it take the 1v1?check mine plshttp://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/sedris-the-tempo-reanimator/

June 5, 2016 7:52 p.m.

chilbi says... #25

Hey Andrikol, not sure - I've actually never played it in 1v1. My educated guess would be that it might be a little to slow to be a top level contender, despite random Worldgorger wins or similar. I think you'd have to add stuff for more consistency like Buried Alive, Entomb, Demonic Tutor to really get your game on in 1v1.
