I think Isochron Scepter is a great idea, even if you can get it to trigger only twice. It could also be a good bargaining chip for politics. Will really have to take a look at the deck again to see what I need to remove for it. I'm sure you know how it is when you refine a good deck; the toughest thing is figuring out what to remove.

Thanks man. I'll definitely test those cards. As always, I'll be sure to post the results.

Strike your creatures down...join me by my side and go creatureless, and together we will rule this strange deck niche!

Have you um. considered giving Mogis Phyresis? Even though he'll ooze when it rains, I bet you it can further his plans a lot quicker if he was compleate.

I have Rain of Gore in my real SB. Seems like a dry-spell for life-gain players here lately.
Here's the thing about Illicit Auction... It almost always resolves. And someone WILL lose life, guaranteed. If you play it right, people will bid stupid amounts of life for that one thing on the board that's preventing them from winning. I've even seen people bid more than their life total (which you can do) for the right card. The trick is to start the bidding and then let someone else win.
Would Illicit Auction give me a better board state than Ugin, the Spirit Dragon? Based on how quickly a planeswalker like that would get hated out, I'm not really sure. I rarely see planeswalkers ultimate in my area, and I certainly have little protection for them in this deck. It's definitely worth trying though.
