The Blacksmith's forge; friend, lifeline. But what if that forge can fly?
Hellkite Tyrant has
Myr Incubator
and Mycosynth Lattice to proc its win con ability. The bonus to Mycosynth Lattice's everything becomes an artifact, is that Hellkite Tyrant can now steal those artifacts away from the opponent. Essentially it becomes "Gain control of all permanents on your opponent's field."
If they decide to Meddling Mage my Hellkite Tyrant, I've got another combo up my sleeve. Steel Overseer is probably the best artifact buffer in modern, but here, it's full effects are realized when
Myr Incubator
's effect allows me to remove all of my artifacts for creatures. Doubled with Voltaic Key my opponent will be quickly facing an army of 5/5's.
Fabricate can tutor almost anything I need, making it extremely versatile. Double team with Thoughtcast to get into your deck really quickly.
Chord of Calling is our surprise tutor. If I have either activated
Myr Incubator
's ability, or have Mycosynth Lattice on the field, Chord of Calling acts as an instant win (when not countered) for my search of Hellkite Tyrant. Opponent ends his/her turn, I play Chord of Calling and then win with Hellkite Tyrant on my upkeep. It also helps against cards that hate on only my Hellkite Tyrant like Meddling Mage. Chord of Calling sticks the creature right on the board, effectively by-passing the "cannot be cast" of those types of cards.
We have a tonne of mana ramp here, and said ramp is very necessary. Chromatic Lantern is one of the more important ones, since I have no forms of dual lands in this deck, and Chord of Calling costs GGG, very unlikely to get 3
Tree of Tales
out to cast the thing.
Everflowing Chalice + Coretapper, make for a cheap card that grants me 3-4 mana, ready to use off the bat. Bonus to use Voltaic Key to untap Everflowing Chalice to re-tap it for mana. The same usage can be said for Thran Dynamo too, potentially giving me 5 mana per use.
Lux Cannon is here for the control on anything that may prevent me from playing Hellkite Tyrant, be it a Meddling Mage or a Detention Sphere.
Etherium Sculptor really speeds up the game, allowing me to play 2-3 artifacts a turn when I can normally only play 1. Mox Opal is fairly straightforward, especially considering all the artifact lands I have. And
Tolarian Academy
becomes "tap, play anything you want", ad becomes really easy to find with Tolarian West~
Now for the sideboard!
I could care less if all of my lands turn into mountains with Blood Moon. I have Chromatic Lantern, I win. Though be wary of using Mycosynth Lattice, I suggest swapping that out if you are putting Blood Moon in.
Boil
and Choke are fairly obvious. Anti U control! Plus they are old cards and very rarely ever used so my opponent won't be expecting them.
Darksteel Forge is here should my opponent play any artifact removal or board-wipes. I can get it out pretty quickly thanks to all the ramp I have.
Pact of Negation should be used if anything happens in terms of counterspells when I play my Hellkite Tyrant or my Mycosynth Lattice or my
Myr Incubator
. At the beginning of my upkeep, I get to choose which abilities proc first, so I don't have to worry too much about losing.
Relic of Progenitus against graveyard hate. I didn't use Grafdigger's Cage because of Chord of Calling. And hey! It's an artifact!
Witchbane Orb
against the mill, discard and burn decks. And hey! It's an artifact!
