Men In Tights

Casual Elves

HubukiKai

This is a non-combo elves deck that is specifically tuned to work for multiplayer in my meta. It's strong and fun but not overwhelming; it builds power pretty linearly so it doesn't draw too much hate. There's not a lot of trickiness to it. One thing it can do really well is gain life; I've been over 200 many times.

It's actually designed to make games go long, via a combination of lifegain and draw 7 effects (Time Reversal and Time Spiral . The draw-7s are pretty fun as the deck makes a lot of mana and can empty your hand very quickly. Then you draw 7 and reload, and do it again, with fewer lands in the deck. If you play cards faster than your opponent you get value from the draw 7. It's fun in multiplayer and keeps the games interesting.

The deck's first turns can be a bit shaky; I run very few lands and very few cheap mana dorks. Basically, you need 3 mana to start, then you can Kodama's Reach or whatever and you're set for life. Make sure to grab Islands and/or the Mountain with the accelerator. I've only been screwed once with this deck, so while it's a distinct possibility it doesn't actually happen very often.

Since there's blue in the deck, I couldn't help but toss in some counterspells. Nothing surprises people like getting countered by an elf deck. It also gives me a chance to use my favorite counterspell of all time, Power Sink . When you have tons of mana available, Power Sink counters their spell and makes them lose a turn of development. It's pretty awesome.
