Meren deck with enter the battlefield and leave the battlefield effects with many sac outlets. Essentially, you want to: 1) ramp into land with small creature cards, (sack them to increase your counters and bring them into play to ramp again) 2) fill your graveyard to bring answers and win conditions back from the grave 3) Many cards give you bonuses when you sack a creature or when a creature dies (card draw, force an opponent to discard or sack their own creature) 4) My meta has quite a bit of graveyard play, therefore I have a bit of repetitive graveyard hate. 5) Tutoring creatures and tutors help find answers when you need them as well as cards such as buried alive help feed your graveyard to be used by Meren's ability.

When I can find a Craterhoof Behemoth, it will replace pathbreaker Ibex.
