The deck utilizes the natural syngery of Meren of Clan Nel Toth and other creatures with sacrifice/etb effects. There is also some element of Stax to the deck, as it tries to lock down board state with cards like Void Winnower, Smokestack, and Tainted AEther. From here, the deck looks to win using the larger creatures for attacking, and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord for direct damage routes. The other win-con is the Necrotic Ooze + Phyrexian Devourer + Triskelion combo.
