A stax based Meren deck, used to control the board and limit combo decks in our local meta.

Control: Acidic Slime, Caustic Caterpillar, Magus of the Abyss , Mindslicer, Phyrexian Revoker, Reclamation Sage, Void Winnower , Contamination, Root Maze , Null Rod, Sphere of Resistance, Tangle Wire, Thorn of Amethyst , and Trinisphere all provide some aspect of control, as the creatures can be constantly recurred and the noncreatures speak for themselves.

Win Conditions: Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + Triskelion . Probably the most efficient combo in the deck.

Phyrexian Devourer + Triskelion in the graveyard and Necrotic Ooze out on the field. Exile your library to shoot someone in the head, really only useful in 1v1s, and even then it is still just a backup combo.Contamination versus nonblack decks. Speaks for itself.

Tutors: Sidisi, Undead Vizier, Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, Buried Alive, Demonic Tutor, Diabolic Intent, Eldritch Evolution, Green Sun's Zenith, Survival of the Fittest, Birthing Pod, Chord of Calling, Entomb , Vampiric Tutor, and Worldly Tutor. The sooner we can assemble our control or combo, the better.

Grave Hate: In our meta there is some amount of graveyard interaction, so graveyard hate is a necessity in this deck. Deathrite Shaman , Scavenging Ooze, and Bojuka Bog, which can be played at instant speed due to Crop Rotation.

Recursion: Meren of Clan Nel Toth herself, Eternal Witness, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed sorta, Regrowth , and Victimize .
