Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed would be good for your black spells, Ashes to Ashes is an underrated removal that I think should be staple for black edh decks

I've put in Liliana, Heretical Healer  Flip for See the Unwritten. I agreed Ashes to Ashes is a great removal spell but i prefer something more versatile in this deck for a instant or a sorcery spell. like Maelstrom Pulse, i've got a lot of sacrifice with Merciless Executioner, Fleshbag Marauder, Sheoldred, Whispering One and Dictate of Erebos to get rid of problematic undestructible creature. Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed is a interesting creature that fit my toolbox theme, it could replace Greenwarden of Murasa what do you think aznb01777

Greenwarden is an ok replacement, but u only get one recursion of it it because it exiles after use, xiahou dun u can keep abusing the recursion. I run both maelstrom and ashes, even with my fleshbag. Ashes is useful because it targets where as fleshbag ur opponent choses. Plus there are lots of indestructible and creature with persists and so on which can only be dealt by removal(exile) only. Aside from that 3 mana for 2 exile and 5 life in edh is really worth it.

Nice toolbox build, and Oversold Cemetery is one I'll probably wind up adding to mine as well. The only thing I might recommend would be some token generation so you have the sac-engine fodder, Skullclamp fodder and some chump blockers. I run Mycoloth, Golgari Germination and Ogre Slumlord as my primaries. Out of those the Slumlord would probably work best since it triggers when any creature dies, not just yours and the rats have deathtouch.

Ogre Slumlord seem interesting i'll put it in my maybeboard list, for now i prefer Awakening Zone and From Beyond because they're are enchantement and the creature token they gave me can sacrifce themself for mana, and that save me more than once but i will playtest him for sure. I need to confess, i really like Golgari Germination ...

Im thinking to make these changes:

  1. Blade of Selves instead of Nim Deathmantle
  2. Command Beacon instead of Grim Backwoods
  3. Attrition instead of Stitch Together
  4. Altar of Dementia instead of Cathodion
  5. Smokestack instead of Reaper from the Abyss
  6. Doomed Necromancer instead of Life/Death
  7. Xiahou Dun, the One-Eyed (only got to find one) instead of Greenwarden of Murasa

Nim Deathmantle & Cathodion are part of a combo that really hard to make it work, Blade of Selves is going to be more usefull with all the come into play ability and Altar of Dementia &Smokestack and Attrition are going to help sacrife creature, controlling the board and add another way to win.Doomed Necromancer is a test and for the other cards i want to replace they never prove to be usefull.

I would like to read your comment about the change i'm about to make and your suggestion.

Blade of Selves is an ingenious way of exploiting the ETB mechanic. I'm probably thinking small and imagining a Sakura-Tribe Elder that you sac before combat damage for more mana. That's definitely a mechanic I might need to exploit....But if you have anything like Big Game Hunter you're looking at major destruction. Good change for that one at least.

I almost forgot, i would not take out nim deathmantle, as it allos an infinite with Avenger of Zendikar+Phyrexian Altar/Ashnod's Altar

or with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed+any non human+Ashnod's Altar+Nim Deathmantle

also, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest can be used to go infinite with either Woodfall Primus or Puppeteer Clique

Thank you for yours suggestions, Don't worry i had a change of hearth about Nim Deathmantle at first it was suppose to be replace by Blade of Selves but i realise how good it was and i remove Life/Death instead.

I'm going to put Phyrexian Altar and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest i'm thinking of removing From Beyond, Smokestack, Phyrexian Arena or Altar of Dementia any advice ?

cuts i would suggest;

Ghoulcaller Gisa needs to wait before you can activate it for token generation. meren decks can't "break her"

Savra, Queen of the Golgari i personally think that smokestacks is a better version of her that can give me an outlet to sac, and forces opponents to sac even if I do not have a way to sac myself.

Golgari Signet for Phyrexian Altar
From Beyond for Abhorrent Overlord
Phyrexian Arena for Grim Haruspex

thats about all i could think of right now

here are the newest change :

Golgari Signet for Phyrexian AltarSepulchral Primordial for Abhorrent OverlordReaper from the Abyss (C14) for Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest

I'm considering making this move :

Phyrexian Arena for Grim Haruspex

Any suggestion from Shadows Over Innistrad

Reaper of the Wilds Reaper of the Wilds seems average, carrion feeder is worth adding just as a 1 drop sac outlet that you can grab later, if you are looking for tool box vampire hex mage is really good at dealing with cards reliant on 1+1+ counters. Blade of Selves is questionable it seems like just a win more card. smoke stack seems slow and like it would tend to attract hate, Maelstrom Pulse seems questionable I feel like more often than not the sorcery speed makes it just not good enough. why is Oversold Cemetery in this list? it doesn't seem like it's where you want to be. I feel like you would rather be hiting a dredge source than Sylvan Library.

Thank you for you're suggestions mistspade

so let me resume:

Reaper of the Wilds for Grim Haruspex, Blade of Selves for Strionic Resonator, Ghoulcaller Gisa for Carrion Feeder and Eldrazi Monument for Asceticism

I'm looking to make place for Vampire Hexmage maybe Smokestack but i'm not sure yet.

About Maelstrom Pulse, Oversold Cemetery and Sylvan Library

I made the choice of not using dredge card and use a scry and draw engine. That why Oversold Cemetery and Sylvan Library is in the deck. I'm going to test Grim Haruspex put the sry ability of Reaper of the Wilds prove to be very usefull.

About Maelstrom Pulse is a personal favorite. it's there to stay

Fair enough then, honestly it's an interesting choice at the very least.

Hex Parasite is better than Hexmage to an extent...Less effort to kill off more planeswalkers. Yeah, Hexmage works with the general, but the parasite just works.
