MTGPlus I'm glad you enjoyed the deck :)

The reason I do not put Merrow Commerce in the deck is because the main goal is to get the infinite combo asap. While Merrow Commerce works brilliantly in this deck by doubling the number of times you can tap all your merfolk, I found that I was still more likely to come across the infinite combo before the game ended. That being the case, I skipped on the Merrow Commerce in order to get the infinite combo sooner.

(The version of this deck that I play with my friends is legacy and does not use the infinite combo because they all hate it lol. That version has 4 Merrow Commerce and 3-4 Opposition so I totally get how amazing it can be. Unfortunately, Opposition is not modern legal)

Happy milling!!!

2 things - first, I love this idea, and I may try building one like it. I already have the Stonybrook Banneret & Stonybrook Schoolmasters. Very cool! Second - I don't get the point of the fetchlands (Flooded Strand) if you don't have a Plains in your deck to fetch. Otherwise, you could just replace those with Islands and not incur the penalty....

@libraryjoy: Hallowed Fountain is both Plains and Island land type. It basically just increases the chance of drawing them from 4-in-60 to 8-in-60. If you're going for a 3rd/4th turn win, the life loss isn't that big a deal.

@enpc - Hallowed Fountain makes perfect sense. It's Flooded Strand I don't understand. You pay 1 life and search for a Plains or Island card. But if there isn't a Plains in the deck, you can't search for one - so essentially, all it does is pull out an Island - in which case Island would work better. So my recommendation is to either replace one of the deck's current Islands with a Plains or to replace all the Flooded Strands with Islands.

Flooded Strand looks for a Plains or Island card. Becasue Hallowed Fountain has the subtype "Plains Island", Flooded Strand can fetch it. If the text on Flooded Strand said "Basic Plains or Island" or "Card named Plains or Island" it couldn't. But The ability searches for a card which is of type Plains or Island. Just like how Wooded Foothills can fetch Dryad Arbor, since its a Forest Subtype.

@enpc - I see, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining it.

Thanks enpc for explaining the deck.

libraryjoy an additional use for Flooded Strand is that it fetches lands out of your deck. This decreases your land-to-other cards ratio, i.e. having less lands in the deck makes you more likely to draw the other cards necessary for the infinite combo.

turnyouover you have a neat idea for infinite combo win and I like it. The main difference is the deck's legality. Merfolk Mischief is modern legal, whereas your deck is a legacy deck. Legacy has much more powerful competition.

I've thought about Gitaxian Probe and it is a good card. The question is, is it better than something else in the deck that I would need to take out those cards in order to make room for Gitaxian Probe. Thank you for the suggestion though.
