Basically, the deck works doing some little strategies with the Merfolk's abilities + two strong combos. There is also a little chance to win the game in four turns against no matter how many opponents.

STRATEGIES:

The Stonybrook Banneret is a good option to prepar the battlefield at the beginning. His ability is helpful to reduce all the merfolk's costs and save mana to use Deprive or Abjure.

With the battlefield prepared, it is easy to drop Drowner of Secrets which helps tapping Stonybrook Schoolmaster (to put 1/1 blue Merfolk Wizard creature tokens) or any merfolk to get life with Judge of Currents .

When the untap step starts and after tapping the Lands and using the Drowner of Secrets 's ability tapping Merfolks on opponet's end phase, if Wake Thrasher is on the battlefield, it gets +1/+1 until the end of turn for each permanent untap. And with the Merfolk Sovereign's help, becomes easy to attack directly a opponent and do a lot of damage.

There are two ways to defend. First is the Harpoon Sniper 's ability, which kills any creature that attaks depending on how many Merfolks there are on the battlefield. And the second are the Lullmage Mentor's ability and the instants, Deprive and Abjure, which counter anything droped. There is also the Summon the School to rise the number of merfolks and helping the others abilities.

And finally, the reason to put Call to the Kindred is to get Merfolks for the combos quickly, obviously.
