With the exception of Daze and Hydroblast , this is a Modern legal deck. You could easily turn this into a competitive Modern deck if you wanted to.

If you did add Force of Will this then becomes a pretty solid budget Legacy deck, especially if you add Wasteland .

The only creature I would suggest is Phantasmal Image so you can copy one of your +1/+1 Merfolk and give them all another boost. I would cut Merfolk Sovereign for them, because for a 3 CMC her ability isn't as great compared to the others and she'll slow you down.

Really nice though!

SharuumNyan, thanks for the supportive comments!

If you had to choose between Vapor Snag , Boomerang , Snapback , or Snap for this deck, which would you run?

I agree that Phantasmal Image could work well in here. I think that you should remove Cursecatcher . You'd rather play an AEther Vial on turn 1 and with playsets of both Counterspell and Daze , you don't really need more counter power. Other than that, the deck looks solid.

TitansFTW, yeah I was not looking to increase the number of counter spells i have, only ask if I have the correct ones in the deck.

I will look into Phantasmal Image

TitansFTW, a few more things, do you agree with the removal of Merfolk Sovereign ?

and secondly how do I respond to specific comments on this board. Like if i wanted to post a reply to a comment that was a few comments ago?

Just reference the comment number. For example:

jaimegomez27, in reference to your comment #2... (insert your comment here)

I'd sooner remove Cursecatcher than Merfolk Sovereign . Although it is the worst of your Lords, it is still a Lord and thus is useful. More so than a 1/1 with a very narrow ability anyway.

I feel that Mana Leak is better than those cards in the mainboard because it is more versatile, but Spell Pierce is awesome in the sideboard.

TitansFTW and did you like Boomerang , Snap , Snapback , Vapor Snare ? I feel there should be some bounce, maybe in the sideboard, but I am new to merfolk.

Hi there, I think you've got the right idea here. Like others have said, I would remove the Merfolk Sovereign . It is just too clunky a card for something as fast moving and in your face as merfolk. You are weighing boomerang, snap, snapback, and vapor snare. But you really should be running Dismember because you can pay life to cast it instead of mana. As fast as merfolk are, you aren't going to use more than one anyway and by then you should have won the game. Good luck!

Hey Icarus79. I do like Dismember because it will get rid of the creature instead of just bouncing, do i concern myself with planeswalkers/enchantments/artifacts or is that just something that i should save my counters for?

If you run Spell Pierce and Dismember there shouldn't be anything you can't handle before the win.

And Daze I forgot that one too.

I would run Unsummon over Dismember . For the same amount of mana and 4 less life, you can generate enough tempo to get you the win as it basically sets your opponent back a turn. It can also be used to save your own creatures in combat or from kill spells.

Quick question, would you mind having a look at my discard deck? Cheers.
