I've had Merieke Ri Berit since 1998 and it has been sitting in my folder, but I've never played it in a deck. As a returning player of MTG, I've decided to construct a deck using her as a commander.

Disclaimer: This deck is not play-tested, comments, feedback, opinions are welcomed!

Untap Mechanics

Merieke doesnt untap during your untap phase, so obviously, we will need some cards which provides some untap functionality.

Note that some of these cards can tap opponents' permanents (i.e. not limited to creatures only) as well.

Control, Blink, Control

Once Merieke is untapped, the previously controlled creature will be destroyed, which got me thinking wouldn't it be good if we can blink and return it to our control?

Note the wordings on these cards, they exile the creatures that I control and returns them to the controller (not the owner). Key phrase: "return it to the battlefield, under your control."

Creatures with activated abilities which requires tapping

We have a bunch of untappers and it would be a nightmare if the Commander is not in the battlefield. Hence, we supplement the deck with creature which have activated abilities which requires tapping.
1. Adarkar Valkyrie - Quite a bit of synergy with Merieke, as it can animate the creature destroyed by Merieke's ability.
2. Angel of Condemnation - With untappers around, one can trigger the second ability more frequently.
3. Royal Assassin
4: Arcanis the Omnipotent - For card draw, but it has very high CMC (6).

Artifact creatures with triggered abilities

With a bunch of artifact ramps in play, it should suffice to have 2 creatures which grow as artifacts enter the battlefield.
1. Glassdust Hulk
2. Glaze Fiend
3. Puppet Conjurer - to support the creation of artifacts.
