Jace the Firebrand, I can always count on you to offer lots of suggestions!
Possibility Storm and Knowledge Pool are fantastic at stopping infinite combos! I'll add them and any other similar effects to the list.
I have a separate list for stopping decks that like to draw lots of cards: MagicalHacker - List of All Anti-Control Spells
The same is true for stopping tutoring: MagicalHacker - List of All Anti-Tutor Spells
Losing abilities will be found on MagicalHacker - List of All "Tuck" Spells, but it might not be a bad idea to add them here too.
That leaves just Rule of Law, which I think doesn't stop enough combos to be of much use.

Nice!
Have you considered expanding this to include anti-extra turn cards, like Ugin's Nexus? Though actually there's not a lot of such cards yet. Or is this more purely focused on defensive/reactive solutions?

Ugin's Nexus and Stranglehold are probably good additions to the list. I wonder if there are any other effects like that...

Mindlock Orb is pretty much a Stranglehold. Leyline of Sanctity is anti-target (i.e. Brain Freeze, Triskelion) and Leyline of Singularity stops Kiki-type combos.

And time for a triple post. Containment Priest and Rest in Peace.

Leyline of the Void and Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet shut down graveyard combos like Karmic Guide and Reveillark.

Summary Dismissal is more a counterspell than an anti-infinite card, no?
May 5, 2017 8:34 a.m.
Basically Yes but since it's also stopping abilities I thought it could stop some combos, assuming the controller can't reactivate everything. I don't know. I'm not really an expert in infinite stuff. Glorious End definitely stop that but you need to do something or you will lose right after anyway...

Yeah, in both of those cases, they act as counterspells, which are also incidentally good at stopping infinite combos (as is some spot removal). But as for this list, they don't quite make it.

Oh Eidolon of Rhetoric by far needs to be here on this list.

TheDeckMaker2300, I didn't originally think that the cards that limit the number of spells that players are allowed to cast per turn to be good enough for this list, but with the prevalence of Paradox Engine combos and other storm combos in the format recently, I agree that that they should be included. Thanks for the suggestion!

TheDeckMaker2300, I'm in the process of adding them (you can see my two draw lists already updated), but it's taking just a little bit longer than usual since I'm also juggling work I'm doing for my YouTube channel , so it's taking a little longer than usual.
This list is going to be overhauled the most (and may be even deleted) since I have a full list of infinite combos now, and it shows me that it might be impossible to find even a single card that stops 50% of combos...

Where are you getting your statistics from? What are the most prominent combos you are looking to stop? In my experience, a card like Rest in Peace will stop a large percentage of combos, but without a list of the most common combos it's difficult to have any meaningful discussion.

arcane_trouper, I am getting my statistics by looking at all the combos on MagicalHacker - List of All 2-Card Infinite Combos. :)

arcane_trouper says... #19
MagicalHacker Then your statistics only make sense if all cards are played an equal amount. And that's not even close to true.

arcane_trouper, that's a good point! I'll look into figuring out a way to see a list of which combos are most common. I think it's going to involve using EDHREC rather than scryfall!

Sounds like a good idea! I'm interested to see what you come up with. I am not aware of anyone doing a "most commonly played combos list" with more than anectodotal stories from one's own LGS or isn't just referencing the standard cEDH combos.

Here's my plan (let me know if you can think of any improvements!):
- Take a look to the top 10 most popular cards on this list by sorting Scryfall by EDHREC.
- Open those 10 cards on EDHREC.
- Look to find the most common combo piece played in the decks with that card.
- Look at where those combo pieces fall on the EDHREC sort of Scryfall, and then repeat the search from 1, this time getting all cards that are more popular than the number 10 combo piece.
- From there, repeat 2 and 3.
- Find the new combo pieces for each of those cards, and then multiply to get the percentage of decks running those combos.
- Sort from most popular to least popular, and then it cut it down to just 10 combos.
From there, having the top ten combos should give insight into what cards are good aga

Look at that... there's an EDHRec rank sort on Srcyfall. I had no idea, neat!
I think that's the right idea for how you would conduct a search. EDH is also so varied and large that I wonder though if the top 10 combos is sufficient. I may look into Scryfall's API. Seems like getting valuable information like, "x% of combos use creature activated abilities" or "y% of combos use the graveyard" would be a neat measurement.

Hmm, I'll have to take a look at maybe the top 50 instead then! Hopefully, after the top 50, the remaining combos are so unlikely to be played that they account for a negligible percentage of games? Hmm...

arcane_trouper, here's a list of all 65 infinite combos play in 1000 or more decks according to EDHREC that only use 2-cards. The first number is the minimum and the second number is the maximum, since EDHREC only gives percentages, not values, of the number of decks playing both those cards.
A 2-card infinite combo in exactly 1,000 decks is a combo found in less than 1 deck out of every 300, so I would say this is list is as exhaustive as is beneficial. :)

Possibility Storm shuts down a lot of combos, mostly due to not being able to cast anything that actually works. Knowledge Pool does similar, but different, things. Omen Machine stops infinite draws, Stranglehold stops infinite turns and tutors, Humility (nuff said), Rule of Law, Mindlock Orb, and, of course, Torpor Orb because f*ck Palinchron
