at least you don't have to fight prossh food chain. I have to play brago stax just to balance my group.

What about Heroic Intervention over Asceticism? Cheaper cost, protects all of your permanents, instant over enchantment. +1 deck duderino.

With a name like this deck you need to run Explosive Vegetation

Also please consider Impact Tremors for the full landing experience.

So if your group is full of highly competitive decks that deploy their game plan early, why are you choosing a general that costs 7?

I understand you can accellerate Omnath, Locus of Rage early, but by then you've either run low on cards or run out of time. I believe Omnath may be a good choice against Stax-type decks, as the elementals dying give you additional value. But at most you'll have 2 or 3 tokens until your board position is dealt with.

A lot of the generals you mention seem like they win in one of a few different ways. Can you please explain which of the following you usually face or have difficulty with:

A) Power out a quick win via combo Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind or commander damage Scion of the Ur-Dragon and Uril, the Miststalker

B) Play "Free" spells/permanents Sharuum the Hegemon, Talrand, Sky Summoner, and of course who can forget Maelstrom Wanderer

C) Win with overwhelming incremental advantage (such as constant card draw, creature removal, etc...) over time Sliver Overlord, Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, Atraxa, Praetors' Voice

zamiero, you would be surprised with the outcome of our games. Omnath wins more games than any of the decks that I compete with. It's all politics in my playgroup and most of the time it is 4v1 against Omnath and I still overwhelm everyone and come on top.

The most troubling decks I face would be: Talrand, Sky Summoner (every other card is a counter card), Merieke Ri Berit (always trying to take my Omnath) and Uril, the Miststalker (a race to avoid taking 21 commander damage, because I am always the first target). Even then it depends on who had a better start and I get Omnath out on average turn 5 and occasionally as early as turn 4. You are also underestimating the token production. I am in double digits before my board state is handled and then I comeback with even more my next turn. Omnath is the real deal!

vishnarg, I am definitely adding Ramunap Excavator when it comes out. Thanks for the suggestion!

DrValium, I am looking at re-adding Explosive Vegetation to the equation. Any suggestions on what I should cut? Impact Tremors could be very good. I'll definitely keep that one in mind. Thanks!

solarPULSAR, I will definitely consider Heroic Intervention, but for now I will continue to stick with Asceticism. It helps keep commanders like Merieke Ri Berit off my back.

Wurmlover, yeah, a Prossh, Skyraider of Kher + Food Chain combo, sounds ridiculous to play against! Brago, King Eternal-stax, does sound like a good answer for it though. I use to play against a Brago-stax deck and it was unbearable at times. I'll definitely have to check out your Brago build.

freakingShane, great suggestions! Though Fervor was short lived in the deck, I did like the extra haste enabler. It just ended up being a little less important than having extra early ramp cards. I did remove Blood Moon and added Price of Glory. I'll pass on Shivan Harvest and Courser of Kruphix, but thanks for the suggestions!

Firebones675 and GrayAlchemyst, I wanted to give you two an update that Omnath has been playing very well since the change. Thank you both very much for all of your help!

Thank you everyone! Let's continue to keep Omnath the crowned king of a$$holes.

Very cool deck! I love your deck title! I just literally retired my Angry Omanath deck and converted it into a pure landfall combo deck. Would appreciate if you can take a look at mine and any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated! +1

Since you say you're the early threat and one opponent holds countermagic for you, may I suggest Autumn's Veil? Playing my Titania, Protector of Argoth deck I win countermagic wars with it... they always keep just enough mana open for Cryptic Command or Mystic Confluence. They never expect it!

I have the same problem with Titania, Protector of Argoth in that I attract early attention and the attention of the table. I have yet to find an appropriate solution (either with cards or politics).

I approached Omnath (with little success, so please take this advice with caution) using free or super-cheap ramp spells that can be activated the turn I cast Omnath: Sakura-Tribe Elder, Dawntreader Elk, and Perilous Forays. I noticed you already have the Forays in the deck. If you want more Landfall triggers and the ability to find Homeward Path at a moment's notice, then Crop Rotation is for you. I'm waiting for the day I can settle on a R/G commander, then pull out an instant-speed Kessig Wolf Run or Winding Canyons.

Speaking of which, if you have the extra mana then Winding Canyons allows you to force the control deck to react at a time of YOUR choice (instead of the other way around). Yeva, Nature's Herald also allows the same, but in a much more limited fashion.

However I don't know if any suggestion I've made is as good as the card it would replace in your deck.

I feel like this deck needs Purphuros to help smash in with omnath triggers.

Horn of Greed I feel like that's a pretty good way to keep hand size up since you are playing a ton of lands.

June 25, 2017 noon

No Perilous Forays? Its the best card in omnath and goes infinite easy as pie.

Best Omnath deck and the best name too. Must be nice to have one deck you know for sure you'll never need to worry about land drops.

Realms Uncharted might be worth looking into for a ramp card by the way.

I don't know if i have my version posted but it's pretty finely tuned. In fact my play group uses it as a measuring stick. It's so quick reliably getting omnath turn 4

Podkomorka says... #23

If omnath is winning at all at a "competitive" table then no one there is playing a competitive deck lol

July 8, 2017 2:38 p.m.

Papdaddy_44 says... #24

I would u say that.. With ramp it can get out there as quick as turn 4. Then continue to ramp to make more tokens sac tokens after combat to burn off the opponents face. It can be very overwhelming of an deck

Podkomorka says... #25

Turn 4? In a competitive environment you need to be able to WIN by turn 2-5 consistently while also protecting your wincon. And what makes Omnath a casual commander is that he's jus way to much mana tha does not immediately give you benefits once cast. To be competitive youd have to make sure you can interrupt other people from winning on turns 3 4 and 5. Sorry but I seriously doubt that the other players built their decks competitivly given that you said omnath will win.
