Crop Rotation has been an allstar for me, grabbing a Yavimaya Hollow or Glacial Chasm at instant speed to shut down them killing an important creature or attempting to kill you with damage has been sweet. Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle has also been good, but my list is a bit more skewed towards abusing it. How has Ashnod's Altar been as a sac outlet? Do you often use the mana from it, or does it perform like a worse Goblin Bombardment for you sometimes? Cool deck mate, I've been jamming angry Omnath for over a year now and he is one of my favorite decks despite me being a blue-inclined mage :D. List is below.

Whelp, the new Traverse the Outlands looks pretty dumb. I think this deck especially could make good use of it.

Depending on your ramp, the upside of Where Ancients Tread costing 1 less versus the flexibility of Warstorm Surge could be negligible. However, your engine is built off of Omnath's angry elementals, so I don't see why not. Or just run both for consistency.

No Terramorphic Expanse or Evolving Wilds? I know they aren't as great as any of the fetchlands, but still. Every extra landfall trigger is another 5/5 beatstick. I think you could afford to cut a couple basics for them. Blighted Woodland is similar to Myriad Landscape, but it doesn't enter tapped, and costs twice as much to ramp. I'd still run it.

Sakura-Tribe Elder should never be underrated in EDH, and especially should be in a deck that gets value off of lands etb. Chump block, then sac for a Rampant Growth, or if your opponents forget about it with Omnath in play, flash out a 5/5 blocker. Always good.

Rampaging Baloths is your backup token spammer, or just a way to get even more value off your land drops. Maybe Omnath got Nevermore'd or Commander taxed too high. You can keep your engine going without worry.

I find your lack of a Rishkar's Expertise disturbing. Don't forget you can play one of the cards that you've drawn into for free.

Axeplorer, I've been on the fence on adding Crop Rotation. I'm just very unsure what to cut for it, so I never added it. I ran Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle, Vesuva and Thespian's Stage at one point. I just never ran enough mountains to maximize damage output, so the synergy wasn't effective enough and they got cut. As for Ashnod's Altar, yes, it has been a worse Goblin Bombardment. I've been contemplating on replacing it with Phyrexian Altar instead. At least then I could make use of the one any color mana compared to the two colorless. I really like where you are going with all the burn in your build. I might have to add some of those cards to get that additional damage out.

usaDiabetic, thanks for the +1! Even if it was just for the name, any and all upvotes are much appreciated! I'm glad the name is getting attention. I was cracking myself up when creating the name for this build.

nodicekid, thanks for taking the time and posting your Omnath build. I like the land destruction you have going on in there. I've always considered adding some myself. I think a cycled Decree of Annihilation would add some nice flavor.

jamesfiek, I don't like taking the risk with Animist's Awakening. The chances of spending seven mana (just to compare it to Boundless Realms CMC) on it to look at the top six and coming up with a land or two is not worth it in my opinion. Not saying that is always the case, just not worth the risk for me. I replaced Horn of Greed awhile back for Mind's Eye, so I could prevent giving my opponents an extra draw off land play.

Hi Starsky2814,

Have you considered putting Mana Echoes in? It combos really nicely with Perilous Forays and Zendikar's Roil as follows: 1) Land comes out, putting a 5/5 Elemental (Omnath) and a 2/2 Elemental (Roil) into play 2) Sac a 2/2 Elemental (using Forays), ping a player for 3 life and put a basic land out (Also putting an additional 5/5 Elemental and 2/2 Elemental out) 3) Get 2X colourless mana (where X is the number of elementals already present) to keep fuelling Forays. Rinse and repeat.

Can I also suggest ditching more of the non-basic lands and bringing in swamps and forests? They're more easily tutorable. And maybe introduce Undergrowth Champion and New Frontiers

Hello,

As jamesfiek mentioned Animist's Awakening card to this deck. I have it on my own deck and goal is to use it with Scouting Trek but yes it takes two spells to do it.

Great deck name! What about Harmonize as draw engine? Maybe it's too slow for you I don't know '

Austin_Smith_of_Cards, thank you for all of your feedback. I have added Crop Rotation, Sakura-Tribe Elder and Rishkar's Expertise. I will look for possible cuts for Rampaging Baloths because I do enjoy that card in my alternate build. As for the additional fetch lands, I'd rather not replace basic lands for them for I already feel like I am light on basics as is. I have always considered adding them, they just never make the cut. I like the extra burn that Where Ancients Tread brings to the table. Yet again, hard to cut for this card. I am very excited for Traverse the Outlands. I will definitely add it once it becomes available. Thank you, Lord.of.Innistrad for also suggesting the inclusion.

Pelegos, I appreciate the comment! Mana Echoes goes bonkers in this deck. I'll have to see if I could make a cut for it. It might be hard though seeing how I just replaced Amulet of Vigor which also combos well with Perilous Forays. As for Undergrowth Champion and New Frontiers, I'll have to do some play testing with the two and see if they'll make an impact.

Sorry riburah, I'm still not sold on Animist's Awakening. I'm glad that you've had great experiences while using it. It's just not the card for me. Plus, I'd rather save that cut for the new card Traverse the Outlands.

Jewishman, wow, Ezuri's Predation would be nuts with Tempt with Vengeance. I'll do some play testing with it.

Will_Of_Ulamog, extra draw never hurts, but finding the right cut for it does. Harmonize is a great card, but I went for Rishkar's Expertise instead. Thanks for the comment!

I'd say yes on Blasphemous Act. I'd suggest you consider a 1 drop artifact that lets permanents that enter tapped enter untapped instead.

DemonicDuck, I just cut Amulet of Vigor in the last update. I'm going to be playing the deck today and see if it is problematic without it. As for Blasphemous Act, I cut that a while back. I never once had a chance to use it and always sat on it because my opponents already board wiped for me hahaha.

Starsky2814 Thanks again for the upvote on my Omnath deck. I see you are running Mind's Eye vs Seer's Sundial. Do you think Mind's Eye is definitely the way to go, or possibly both? I do like the idea of adding Blade of Selves to mine too.

August 21, 2017 5:02 a.m.

Jewishman says... #19

Crawarc I had a really juicy debate about Mind's Eye vs Seer's Sundial with someone and it came down to the pedantics of efficiency. Both effectively cost 6 to cast including their activation fee, but Mind's Eye costs half as much as Seer's Sundail from that point on. Landfall is also inferior to card draw as theres less ramp cards vs tempo cards in your typical edh deck and the longer the games goes on for, the less triggers you'll get, meanwhile you're sitting on 3 extra cards for 3 mana each turn in most EDH games with Mind's Eye .

Crawarc says... #20

Jewishman That's what I came to as well. Now I just have to decide if I should try and run them both, and if I do, then should I leave in Elemental Bond as well...So many options...lol. Whats your take? Thanks for the feedback!

Great deck! But i'm missing a champ: Chandra's Ignition!

Swing with your tokens, cast it afterwards and enjoy your board free of creatures and PWs - except for your great buddy Omnath, Locus of Rage.
