Maybeboard

[Mid]: This deck is designed for mid-power games as defined by PlayEDH--very expensive cards and highly-efficient wincons are deliberately excluded.

Seasonal Decks: Every new season, I make a new deck with a top-down design intended to represent that season. This deck is part of that series.

I picked Jorn because he seemed like the best commander for a deck themed around snow; every other decision flowed from that one.

The initial design was basically just a cheaper version of CEDH Jorn, but I found the stax theme a bit boring and a bit hard to pull off wins with in mid-powered games without ultra-fast altcons, and it also put a huge target on me because nobody likes dealing with stax, especially in a mid-powered pod. I rebuilt around a Voltron Jorn gameplan that can keep swinging with the commander, make and spend big mana by doing it, and win through combat damage. There's still a little stax so you can pull up the ladder behind you once you've got the big mana engine going, but it's no longer a major part of the deck.

This deck has quickly become one of my best decks at mid-power, alongside Yuriko and Umbris, and, while the stax pieces do generate some salt, especially if the deck manages to sustain them early on, it's not altogether more mean-spirited than many of the decks it goes up against. Because the deck is still fairly new, the maybeboard is a bit crowded; it shrinks a little every time I make a revision.

Stasis is a great card in this deck, but my playgroup is complaining a lot about it, and I want to try the deck without it. I'm not entirely convinced it's not just a case of "winning is oppressive," but we'll see. I'm trying out some other changes concurrently.
