Maybeboard

Designed for mid-power games as defined by PlayEDH--very expensive cards and highly-efficient wincons are deliberately excluded.

Yuriko is my favorite commander, and I've played her at pretty much every power level, in a variety of configurations. This is my current primary build for mid-power.

How this deck differs from other Yuriko decks:

  • This deck is making absolutely no attempt to combo out. It's all about getting everyone else to zero.

  • Where most Yuriko decks below high/CEDH are trying to get a few Yuriko triggers in with high-CMC cards, this deck is trying to get in as many Yuriko triggers as possible and stick to cards that can actually and usefully be played at high tempo. There are a few high-CMC cards, but I've been very picky about which ones make the cut (as in, even a CEDH deck would be less picky in this category).

  • Even below high-power, I wouldn't ordinarily run creature-type conversion with Yuriko; it's a popular approach, but most Yuriko decks have plenty of actual ninjas to get out enough high-CMC triggers. Because they make enabler spam so much more potent, though, this deck gets more mileage out of them than most Yuriko decks do, so I run both Maskwood Nexus and Arcane Adaptation.

Updates Add

I thought I could do without Academy Ruins. On second thought, I'm bringing it back because it's way too easy for someone to just destroy Quietus Spike and be done with it.
