I love when people come up with new combo's on their own. I especially like budget builds in modern.
The only problem I could foresee is not drawing Midnight Guard
or not being able to protect him. Possibly adding more looting effects could help, but that is tough without blue mana. Also you could run Swiftfoot Boots
for protection and haste to combo off quicker. An advantage you have is that most opponents won't know that they need to kill midnight guard because they don't understand the combo. A couple of Boros Charm
s would also help avoid board whips of your tokens and creatures.
Really cool idea and good luck tomorrow! +1.

playing blue would be interesting for Intruder Alarm . it allows you to play another combo piece. blue also allows you to play more deck thining in the form of Gitaxian Probe , Serum Visions and Izzet Charm which can double as a counter or removal spell to save your combo.

I'd rather not splash blue, even though it would probably be a good idea. I think I'll use Gitaxian Probe and just pay life every time though. I actually have some too so I can run them in my budget version of this deck.

Great deck! I love it! I'll be constructing one for myself.
You might want to consider using Swords to Plowshares instead of Path to Exile . Or, if you're cheap like me, you might want to use Condemn .

I know that isn't your real mana base, but for starters it would be really bad. 0 Basics getting ghost quartered or pathed became that much worse and why do you need 5 color lands in a 3 color deck? If you were using them so you could occasionally pay the probe for blue, I assure you they will hurt you more than probing for 2 life.

I have them to ensure that I have the right color of mana for the combo.

Well if you ever have the money to add blue it will make this deck a lot more competitive. Remand Raise the Alarm and to help add a playset of Mana Confluence and City of Brass for when you can't afford fetches in 4 colors.

Could we see the actual decklist you used at the FNM?
