Oh, and alternatively, you can use another creature type other "Dragon" ... as there are Dragon "Spirits", "Peasants". "Warriors", and Elders in the deck that you may have tokens of that may be a more manageable amount for Kindred Summons.

Catching up on a few of the comments here...

Aggravated Assault + Savage Ventmaw is a sweet combo Vlasiax. This deck is actually an old retooled Atarka, World Render brew and I ran both of those cards in there for 7 years. In those 7 years of playing that derpy Gruul fest, said combo resolved exactly 0 times. It's too spicy and the table responds accordingly. Now saying all of this, with splashed in I have some counterspells to assist, but I've opted not to include either card in here for now. Also, Klauth, Unrivaled Ancient does a superior job than Ventmaw ever did, haha. If your playgroup is light on the interaction front it's a great combo and I encourage you to give it a try. I run Aggravated Assault + Bear Umbra in an Uril deck and have had success with it there, thanks to a suite of protection enchantments.

As for Sylvan Library & Mana Crypt, both are awsesome cards for obvious reasons. In regard to SL, I appreciate the early game gas it can give but my draw suite in here has served me well so far so. In fact, I need to watch that I don't deck myself as Profet93 & Slashdance have pointed out re. the dragon fleet paired with cards like Elemental Bond or Kindred Discovery. That much card draw is an interesting problem to have, haha. I would like to include Mana Crypt + Ancient Tomb at some point, but I'm also ok with my ramp pieces just now - I did a big deck overhaul a couple months ago and upped the ramp package to assist with the high CMC and it's really helped things run more smoothly overall.

I really like this deck a lot! If you are still needing help with mana i think Reckless Barbarian is a nice choice. Early game it can be a mana battery for when you need the mana and after you have miirym out its a 2 for 4 type deal.

Another dragon that im sure you have looked at is Intet, the Dreamer. While its mana cost is high, it gives a 3 mana dragon plus card draw in a way.

There are also some interesting combos with Cloudstone Curio That make infinite dragon tokens/infinite damage/infinite mana but I saw in a previous comment that you want to keep your power level in check.

I hit for over 400 to knock everyone out after rebuilding my board twice.... the turn before this I created 82 utvara hellkite tokens. Crucible of fire ftw

Thanks for the ideas Zobeth!

  • Reckless Barbarian - well this guy is funny, I don't think I ever noticed that this dork was a dragon! I feel like my mana base and ramp suite is in a good spot, but I do appreciate what this guy could bring to the dragon mix.
  • Intet, the Dreamer - I really debated on adding Intet, but ultimately decided against it
  • Cloudstone Curio - I looked up some of the possible combos and yep, this could definitely end games, haha. I'm tempted, just need to decide if that's a line of play I want to incorporate here.

It’s driving me nuts that you still use Doubling Season in this deck instead of Parallel Lives. The counter benefit you’d see is from ugin and rhythm of the wild. All token doublers are 1mana cheaper cause the don’t have that counters ability which can make a huge early game difference.

    August 31, 2023 11:46 a.m.

Also your four cost copy makers cost the same as a token doubler but in my experience this is less powerful than a token doubler even if you plan on targeting your commander because 1) your commander needs to be in play, 2) it’s easier to remove, 3) your commander only works with dragons. However token doublers also target treasures so you will have more consistent mana doubling if you replace the clones with doublers.

OK first of all Bread-and-Butter-EDH, lol re. 'it's driving me nuts'. Second, you're absolutely right on all accounts here, thanks! I'm going to rethink a few of the card choices in here and make some adjustments, cheers.

Sorry didn’t mean to be so rude. I can tell this deck means a lot to you since you spent so much time theory crafting / explaining the deck. The slight inefficiency was bothering me. Let me know if you make the swaps how it effects the games.

Bread-and-Butter-EDH - I didn't think your comment was rude, I appreciated the passionate advice, haha. I might try swapping in Parallel Lives, Second Harvest & Adrix and Nev, Twincasters to see how they work out.

Hi Vlasiax! First off, yeah. TA makes more sense in the haste enabler category, changed. Second, I get what you're saying regarding the 4+ power condition, but Ganax, Astral Hunter has done some insane ramp work for me. I'm never disappointed to see Ganax show up in my hand - I've amassed Gnawbone treasure levels with multiple Ganax's on the table, it can get silly with all the token doubling etc. Lastly, great call on Stubborn Denial! I am definitely going to try to find space for that in here, thank you.

I really, REALLY loved your deck. Amazing. As a dragon lover, your deck looks so good to pilot. I'll suggest something to you think about: Green Sun's Twilight. Put a dragon and a land for 6 mana (1 green and 5 to X) in the battlefield looks very interesting, since it's almost impossible not have creatures and lands at the top deck.

Thanks so much Willen! I like Green Sun's Twilight, but I guess my fear would be the potential of spending 6+ mana on a whiff. I could always try it out to see how it plays in here, definitely has potential as a 'Sneak Into Play' category candidate.

Bonehoard Dracosaur and Auton Soldier isn't good options to the deck? In a scenario with Miirym on the field, can have another Bonehoard Dracosaur to exile plus two cards and get it's benefits. Auton Soldier is {{2}} more than Irenicus's Vile Duplication, but... if you copy Scourge of Valkas or have Dragon Tempest on battlefield, attack with Myriad may be kinda of a finisher, since are two or more dragons entering at that time. Just thoughts.

Really enjoyed seeing your rendition of Miirym and how it differs from mine! Yours looks well built and lots of fun to play. Have you considered Earthquake Dragon? Most times it becomes a 1 drop 10/10 with Flample. One of my favorites to run
