Kobra: Probably something like Leaden Myr as it is very vulnerable to creature removal or boardwipes.
Daedalus19876: Yes, Mikaeus is included in the price! :)
Also, when looking at other 2 mana rocks, I came to realize Star Compass and Guardian Idol could be used... Hmm, I need to make room for them somehow.

Pristine Talisman might be an ok budget mana rock, and a little bit of lifegain to offset some suicide black tendencies of the deck

pryoplasm: It certainly is an option, there's no set rules for which manarocks to run, and at 3 mana the amount available is insanely high. It's best to be flexible and just use the ones you have, at least if you have the budget in mind. At 3 cmc I prefer the rocks that tap for either multiple mana or colored mana, but additional upsides like lifegain is also fine. There's more rocks than slots at least :)

tchau204: I guess because of how cheap the deck is, a lot of people try to build it and so add it to a folder? Never really gave it much thought, but the list is pretty big now.

Can someone explain the...
Playing Gray Merchant of Asphodel Card: Gray Merchant of AsphodelTCG $0.25 | MTGO 0.98 TIX with Mikaeus in play in a 4 man EDH game will restore you 30 life, assuming you do not have any other black devotion in play
... Part? I only count 5 devotion. Times 3 = 15, =/= 30

Also this is a repost from a different section, I initially posted this in the wrong spot because I was on mobile.

other sac outlets that are also budget and 3 mana cost: [rendclaw trow] [restless apparition] [serrated biskelion] [Gwyllion Hedge-mage] [bloodied ghost].[restless apparition] is usable for both when you have infinite mana as a infinite creature and as a sac outlet. It also gives 3 devotion to black.[Serrated biskelion] is built in removal or, can allow an infinite loop of recurring Garys. Isn't that just beautiful. [Gwyllion Hedge-mage] is also reoccurable sac outlet and if you wanted to splash white would give infinite 1/1s as well he gives 3 black devotion on top of that. [Cemetary puca] can become a copy of any creature you sacrifice or that is destroyed by targeted removal. or in some rare cases where you would want to copy an opponents creature. Also [cinderhaze wretch] is an infinite loop of discard and sacrifice outlet although he is a 5 drop. Another 5 drop sac outlet is [deity of scares] Finally one other budget card I see as playable is [shadows of the past] to dig through your library for the important combo pieces.

most of those aren't edh legal for a monoblack commander

Hey Sleazebag thanks for responding!
Also, I'm building this deck right now and was wondering what cards I should take out if I wanted to add the following into the main deck.
Blasting station
Crypt Ghast
Insidious Dreams
Nim Deathmantle
Sol Ring
Contamination
Ophiomancer
Any help is appreciated! Also recommendations on whether these cards should be added or not

Something that will show a more realistic value on tappedout is to show "Swamp (ORI)" (Swamp) instead of the regular "Swamp" (Swamp) which shows newer and more expensive BFZ full art land. This is a save of $6.67 on the deck viewer for the x29 swamps in the deck.

boddie: Well, that dropped the price by a lot! Thanks for the tip.
redchance: I'd be playing many of those cards if I could, but unfortunately they aren't monoblack. They have a white/red color identity, which means I can't run them in a mono black deck.
celsha: Try to sort out the cards in your deck that do the same things as the cards you want to put in, then replace the one that looks weakest. Sol Ring for Jeweled Amulet etc.

yeah sorry about that this is my first commander deck and I didn't find out until today through my friends that those cards are not legal. It's weird how its not allowed despite the mana cost being black or white mana. Unfortunately the card is still treated as both black and white for mana cost. My only question is how are the new devoid cards treated in commander?
October 20, 2015 11:37 p.m.
redchance: The same way. The colors on the card is still a part of its color identity. The same is said for cards like Memnarch, which has a blue color identity even though it is colorless.

venok: Costs $9, also I don't really like stuff that protects you AFTER you take damage, you're supposed to play stuff that prevents people from damaging you. Also, if people want their creature to die, this thing backfires hard.

Have you considered Grip of Desolation? It's a fantastic removal tool for EDH, especially budget decks.

Thank you for this amazing deck it got me into commander and i love it!

Sleazebag I can't help but notice that Sadistic Hypnotist isn't in the decklist.
October 23, 2015 2:53 p.m.
SerOrion: 31 cents, 5 mana, doesn't kill people. Together I figured it wasn't worth a slot.
October 23, 2015 3:19 p.m.
Sleazebag What took it's place in the sac outlets list?
Sleazebag says... #1
Chemtails: Leaden Myr is a 2 mana ramp spell, hard to find in our budget range. Jeweled Amulet is a card that stores mana between turns. So you can essentially tap it for one black mana on turn 4, then get 6 mana on turn 5. Not amazing, but it's good enough for what it does within our budget restrictions! If you want to replace Commander's Sphere, replace it with a 2 mana rock, or a card that taps for more than 1 mana, like Coldsteel Heart or Worn Powerstone.
