Ok, since you guys had so much interest, I'll explain how to properly utilize it.
The trick is to have Triskelion have lethal damage on itself at once.
When triskelion enters play, have it ping ITSELF first. After that damage has resolved, have it ping itself again. It is important to let each instance resolve before going on to the next. This is the crucial moment. When those two self-pings have resolved, there is pretty much no way of stopping you short of split second. The second they target triskelion with a spell, you can simply remove the last one/two counters from triskleion, targetting an opponent, and having it return from undying. As such it returns as a new entity and the original removal spell fizzles.
Here are some examples:
- Triskelion + Mikaeus are in play.
- Triskelion pings itself twice
- Opponent uses removal spell on triskelion / mikaeus
- You remove all counters on triskelion, it dies/returns
- continue to combo off and win
Example Two
- Triskelion + Mikaeus are in play.
- Triskelion pings itself once, opponent uses removal spell on triskelion/mikaeus in response to this ability, while it is still on the stack
- in response to the removal spell, triskelion pings itself twice (Letting each resolve before activating the next, of course), removes the last counter if there is any, and dies while the spell is on the stack, returning to play through undying
- continue to combo off and win
In order to defeat the combo, you need to have two removal spells, or three if triskelion has four counters on it (which it does after it dies the first time), as they will have to respond to the triskelion pinging itself the first time, AND the second time (And a third time, if 4 counters). If they don't, triskelion will still manage to deal two damage to itself before the spells resolve, then die due to having no counters.
Also, the reason it has to ping itself twice is due to Mikaeus giving all nonhumans a +1/+1 static buff. So triskelion will be a 6/6 after returning with undying (2/2 base with 4 counters), not a 5/5.

Ok now I am pumped. That is bad ass. Thank you very much for the explanation. It will defiantly be coming up in game play.

Sleazebag, why does it need to ping itself twice? Once should be just fine. If two self pings resolve it will die while it has a +1/+1 counter

Terribly sorry, I forgot Mikaeus grants +1/+1 to all non-Human allies

Great information thanks. Quick question.. If i was to start substituting cards from the Maybeboard how would you rotate/replace in? I already have a three of them and want to make this my work in progress deck. Thanks.

I personally swapped out Phyrexian Totem right away, it's rather expensive for a mana rock, and I've never needed (or wanted) to use the Animation ability.

I have right now to sub in is Blasting Station Dark Ritual Carrion Feeder to work into the deck. What to replace for now and how to work others in later.

I would recommend Blasting Station first, then Carrion Feeder, then Dark Ritual. Other cards I would swap out are Shred Memory and Bloodthrone Vampire. That seemed to work well for me.

Just a note about the totem, animating it grants it Undying while Mikaeus is out. So its the only mana rock you have that doesn't die easily.
Also, Shred Memory searches Blasting Station

Didn't answer stick218 since ThoAlmighty did it adequately, but just to clarify what chosenone124 said so there are no misunderstandings.
It's a common mistake to make that transmute tutors for 3 mana cards since the transmute costs 3 mana, but that is wrong. Shred Memory tutors for two mana cards. In particular, Bloodthrone Vampire, Spincrusher and Chainbreaker. Victim of Night in emergency situations (It's why I have a 2 cmc and a 3 cmc kill spell).
If you remove Shred Memory, the other two CMC cards become far weaker as a result, so if you take out one, taking out more becomes easier. Blasting Station is a 3 mana card, so it does not search for that.
That said, Heartless Summoning makes Spincrusher and Chainbreaker so amazing. Being able to go turn 2 Heartless into turn 3 sac outlet, into mikaeus and free sac fodder the following turn is just great.
I had to remove Heartless Summoning from the maindeck due to speculation buyouts (That fell COMPLETELY flat on its face, so there is zero reason for this price increase) but price memory is a bitch and MtG prices are easily manipulated.

Sleazebag When I search for commander decks based on score descending, your deck is no longer there, along with a few other decks. What is going on?
March 14, 2016 2:21 a.m.
TachyonMTG: Huh, good question. I have no clue. I can't find the deck either... It should be listed.

Are you sure that the -1/-1 counters remove the +1/+1 counters from undying so that you can loop them?
March 15, 2016 11:35 a.m.
ThoAlmighty says... #15
Yes, -1/-1 counters and +1/+1 counters will remove each other and the effects of each will be gone.

I just want to be 100% sure before I go to an event running this deck. I couldn't find any rulings anywhere about the counters removing each other, are you sure that the creature wouldn't just have both the -1/-1 counters and +1/+1 counters on top of it? I play with the type of players who will definitely call that out assuming I dont back it up with proof that they will remove each other.
March 15, 2016 12:17 p.m.
121.3. If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 countersare removed from it as a state-based action, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1counters on it. See rule 704.

Thoughts on Umbral Mantle? With Magus of the Coffers it can yield unlimited which would be nice for a Exsanguinate
Nim Deathmantle + Cathodion+Ashnod's Altar also yields unlimited mana.
I've got to say, this deck is very fun to play. The "jank" cards lend themselves to the surprise infinite mill. When I play Altar of Dementia With Mikaeus on the table, everyone expects Triskelion, so Spincrusher gets the sure from even the guys playing blue.
March 23, 2016 6:32 p.m.
Myrik: A card that is only useful with one other card out of the 99 isn't good enough. Umbral Mantle is also far too expensive!
Nim Deathmantle is also too expensive, but it really is great in Mikaeus. I recommend running it. It also combo's with Grave Titan and Wurmcoil Engine.

Haunted Cloak is going STRAIGHT into Mikaeus! Wow, that equipment is good!
March 25, 2016 3:19 p.m.
Sadistic Hypnotist has gotten a little too expensive for your deck.
March 26, 2016 1:57 p.m.
Lanzo493: Thanks for the mention, it wasn't in the deck anymore but I had forgotten to remove it from the description.

If you use Sengir Autocrat, it can make 8 sacrifices with Mikaeus. Not as good as an infinite sacrifice obviously, but still handy.
March 27, 2016 3:03 a.m.
I don't think it would work that way, Sengir Autocrat is human so doesn't get the undying and with tokens it doesn't matter. So just 4 sac'able creatures.

Sleazebag Excellent! Thank you very much for that explanation. That helps so much more. Just another way to destroy my opponents. And that sux the essay got removed, because I've read and re-read all the info regarding this deck and the non-budget one as well. I have made some changes to this list by adding in Blasting Station, Sol Ring, Blood Artist among others. Unless you got the money to burn, there isn't much need for the more expensive version unless you want to lose your friends sooner.
