Blood Artist is better outside the combo. Also, being not a human, it benefits from Mikaeus' Undying

Yeah, it's not a human so it gets undying, when you have infinite deaths then hitting one opponent at the time is pretty irrelevant. Only relevancy is it having to target (So Leyline of Sanctity etc stops him), but the situations where undying come into play seemed more relevant. Zulaport is cheaper though, so it hits this list.

Honestly, you can just play both. Geth and Disciple don't belong in the decklist though.

Thanks for the response, I'm trying to do a half measure with a 40$ budget not including Mikaeus, Blood Artist, and Sign in Blood (the cards I have already). So for a player that's trying to work his/her way to your non-budget list, what would you consider first-priority replacements?

The cards in the maybeboard are cards I'd play if the budget allowed it. Start with those. Also better mana rocks.

Honestly though, Mikaeus is a very one-trick-pony, most people like it for the novelty, not for the play experience. It's extremely linear (which is a good thing when you want consistency, but not for fun). I'd recommend building the budget list and expanding on it, but building other more expensive decks later for variation.

Of course, if you enjoy Mikaeus a lot, feel free to upgrade it all the way!

Another helpful card to help the beefy creatures win while opponents have blockers would be Altar of Dementia so you can make him strong enough to have your opponent deck out.

I wonder if Blood Pet &/or Basal Thrull would be of any use for ramp? With Mikaeus out you would get at least two uses out of them.

Also, wouldn't Fevered Convulsions give you the means to make any sac'd creature return? Couldn't go infinite due to mana, but you'd get the creature back.

And wouldn't Falkenrath Noble get around your need for evasion by doing damage directly from other creatures going infinite?

An intriguing deck, but... it's 45$. Yeah sorry, I'm gonna be THAT guy. But 45. False advertising. Time to update the description & name.

Oh. That makes sense. Seems like a well-balanced deck. 1/2 fun, 1/2 unimaginable suffering.

darklord1135: I started typing out an answer for why I wouldn't be running him, but I realized, he is already in the deck!

If there is a creature with a sac ability that is not present in the deck, it's simply because there are more of them than I have room for. I have made the deck so that combo pieces will be available at every converted mana cost, so that if you draw a transmute card you will always be able to tutor for a sac outlet or sac fodder, depending on what you need at the time.

Not sure if it's been mentioned or not but what're your thoughts on Razaketh's Rite? It's cheap as chips money wise and it's not bad mana wise. Plus cycling is nice.

I built this deck about 5 months ago and absolutely live it replaced a few minor bits like diabolical t for demonic t and theres a sol ring and a no mercy other then that its a exact copy I love this deck my friends hate it and my best is combo turn 4 win. Just looking up other decks and saw this is highest scoring multiplayer deck well done man thanks for the brilliant build.

enpc: that's actually a really good suggestion. Worth considering. Not exactly sure what I'd take out for it but if you have one lying around, give it a go. Been kinda disappointed with new sets and cards for Mikaeus, nothing revolutionary in a while and if they are good they are too expensive.

Dareme001: Glad there are still people out there building this deck and having fun with it. Always slightly worried that it will become outdated. They need to reprint Mikaeus!

I bow the knee to this deck as the solution to my need for a competitive commander deck that is cheap, and not too crazy to play. (Recently played a deck that involved messing with an opponent's entire collection, table was not mentally prepared for it.)

I gladly upvote.
