Guys, pardon my noob question, its stated that triskelion only needs mikaeus to go infinite. I cant figure out how this works - its a 1/1 creature with 3 +1/+1 tokens on it. How does it die w/o a sac engine?

Step 1: Remove a counter from Triskelion to deal 1 damage to whatever.
Step 2: Remove 2 counters from Triskelion to deal 2 damage to Triskelion (you need 2 since Mikaeus gives +1/+1)
Step 3: Triskelion Undies
Step 4: Repeat (do Step 1 twice since Triskelion has an extra counter from Undying)

thegigibeast:

And pleasuresaurus, what fenriskiba said is correct.

So I bought this deck and I have played it 3 times in a row. It isn't allowed to compete anymore so I sit in the corner and lure in the newcomers and crush their dreams. Best investment for a troll.

jonathan.lynd1121: That's what I like to hear. I quickly ended up in the same situation at my LGS, which is quite the problem when I made the deck and need to playtest it regularely. The only decks the guys I play with want to use against it are their +$1000 prossh/sharuum combo decks.

It's worth it.

Try this deck in 2HG with a control deck on your ide, hillarious. I was only allowed that once for some reason.

Does Thornbite Staff sounds interesting for you?

Would allow lot of combos!

thegigibeast: Thornbite goes infinite easily in many decks, but not in Mikaeus. The problem here is the 2 mana activation cost in order to ping for 1, and I don't have anything that abuses the untap trigger. It goes infinite with Ashnod's Altar in play, but when you have infinite mana there are better ways to win!

Also, cleaned up the comment section a bit.

Should I get this deck or the mono red in the new commander 2014 deck? Please reply!

November 16, 2014 3:27 p.m.

Sleazebag says... #14

hexelbyte: Why not both? Red is the weakest deck but has the coolest cards to use for other decks. So for scrapping: Red, for a functional deck: This.

Keep in mind people may not want to play against it though, in that case I recommend the black precon.

I don't have a lot of money. I'm new to the MTG game and want to try out EDH. So I was wonder if this one is a good deck to use. So based on your answer, just buy this deck?

Sleazebag says... #16

hexelbyte: No, this is not good for beginners. The black or green Commander 14 decks are nice for beginners.

the Red precon is actually a really cool deck, lots of synergies. You're right in saying that Red as a colour is the weakest EDH colour, but the precon is very artifact based, covering that weakness.

I'm looking for a budget EDH deck. And this caught my attention saying it was under $20. I'm looking for a budget, yet competitive for FNM.

Sleazebag says... #19

PlattBonnay: It is, but artifacts don't cover it that well, and the artfacts that do aren't in the precon, at least not enough of them.

Right out of the box, the red deck is the weakest deck. For someone completely new to MtG, I'd NOT recommend the red deck. Even though I bought two of them on release day.

hexelbyte: For FNM? This deck is far better then.

Been playing with this deck over the weekend and getting some mixed results - at times its crushing but at times it drags to the point where opponents can easily counter/overwhelm it. This leads me to believe I'm not making optimal plays, so I wanted to ask u guys:

How do u usually move with this deck? What sort of pieces do u want in ur hand right at the start? What do u usually do for the first few turns?Would it make sense to tutor a win-con or card draw like Necropotence?

The tutoring options are really helpful, as long as the win-cons I tutor for don't get dealt with before the deck goes inifinite. I have this trouble playing against white & green decks that have plenty of enchantment & artifact removal.

pleasuresaurus: The deck has some drawbacks due to its mono color and budget nature, but there are ways to play around it.In my starting hand I usually want a draw spell, a rock, and 3 lands (Or 2 with 1-2 rocks).

When it goes to comboing out, it depends on the decks I'm playing against, but usually I try to put a sac outlet into play and then give it protection, and save up so I can drop Mikaeus and sac fodder in the same turn. If I'm playing against removal light decks I just rush it out the gates. If I can tutor out a combo engine I'll usually go for Blasting Station as it has a much higher chance of living out the turn in my meta, but apparently that's not the case for you so I'm not sure what advice to give here.

If you run Necropotence: TUTOR NECROPOTENCE (Unless you can win instantly with Triskelion / Blasting Station. There are enough ways to win so you will definitely draw one off necro.

Also, adding Greed and Unstable Obelisk, the latter will give some extremely needed enchantment removal, and Greed will give some nice repeatable draw.

Thx bro, that's a good idea with Greed and Unstable Obelisk! Card draw and enchantment removal like that would really make a difference.

What about adding Ob Nixilis, Unshackled, it's not an expensive card.

I hate myself for suggesting this considering I've played against your deck before but I can't help but wonder why you don't use Insidious Dreams. Its an amazing budget alternative to most tutors, it even allows for tutoring for more than just one card. You also have two other tutors worth mentioning Demonic Collusion and Rhystic Tutor

Read the Bones is also one of my favourite budget draw spells.
