I agree with enpc about Dark Prophecy: when you try to combo off, you just ding yourself to death. Also, maybe more tutors?

I feel like the new Sidisi, Undead Vizier could warrant a spot in this deck. it seems really abuseable.

The +1/+1 Mikeus gives your creatures (outside the ones they get from undying) can't be removed so Workhorse doesn't really work unless you have a sac engine.

If I understand it correctly, the +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters are different counters so they won't cancel each other off.

That is true about workhorse. As for the +1/+1 and -1/-1 coutners, that WAS true under the old rules. A while ago there was an update to the rules so that the counters cancel each other out, i.e. putting a -1/-1 counter on a creature with a +1/+1 counter simply removes the counter.

Hey guys. Thanks for the multiple comments! I appreciate your questions and curiosity for this deck. I'm sorry about not putting a full description, I'll get one up as soon as a i get enough time to sit down.

  1. Dark Prophecy does indeed kill me. However the draw power can really help me go off. With a Blood Artist or Falkenrath Noble It allows me to draw my deck and win with whatever i need. Works well with sac abilities that give me mana.

  2. Grey Merchant of Asphodel and Kokusho, the Evening Star can only go infinite with Ashnod's Altar and Nim Deathmantle. They are great cards to keep your health up as you combo off. Also with Phyrexian Reclamation and a lot of mana, I can do it 5 or 6 times in a turn.

  3. Workhorse and give me infinite colorless mana by removing the counters of them and having a sac outlet for recursion.

I like that card Sidisi, Undead Visier. I'll give it a try.. Tutors certainly help as I can tutor for a continuous sac engine and tutor for win.

Have you considered Lake of the Dead? Really helps with getting things going fast. I'm also a big fan of Heartless Summoning. The -1/-1 Helps with making Workhorse infinite without a sac outlet, and speeds up getting Mikeaus out and most sacable creatures.

I pulled off a turn 3 win one time with the two of those. Turn 1, Swamp, Sol Ring. Turn 2, Swamp. Turn 3, Lake of the Dead. That provides 8 mana. 2 of them for Heartless Summoning, 4 for Workhorse, and then remove 2 counters from Workhorse to get 2 more for Mikeaus. Infinite mana turn 3, which I then cast Staff of Domination and won.

TheatreJay nice recommendation on the land. I'm iffy on the sac part. But I'll try it and see. As for Heartless Summoning. It is a possibility. My concern is because my creature count is low. Is it worth a spot in the 99. Staff of Domination won't make the cut though because I usually win before I get the infinite mana combo set up, and that I don't have that many. I am excited though for some of the black options in bfz. The drone black draw engine and additional blood artist will probably be in here soon.... Also I need to update this thing. I've made quite a few changes since I've uploaded it. Necropotence :)

Torture works with Carnifex Demon so you can keep putting -1/-1 counters on him.

Having played Mikaeus a fair bit now... my advice is make space for these two cards:

Conqueror's Flail

Cavern of Souls

Reason is Mikaeus is the lynchpin of every combo and all of my players know it, so they hold back their counter's and removal for that moment when I need to bring him in and get his sac engine spinning. Conqueror's Flail is safer, since you just need to have all the other pieces in play and then drop Mikaeus in, and they should not be able to respond unless they have something already in play. Most of my players tend to use counter-spells to watch for these threats, followed by bounce and then outright destruction, so Cavern of Soul's still would do a great job of making sure he hits the table... whereafter pretty much all of the infinity engines can run at instant speed, infinitely, thus being able to overlap any piece destruction or bouncing on the stack by simply overlaying more infinite sacrificing on it.

And add Crystalline Crawler ... it's like Workhorse but better!
