I only say this because the comprehensive rules specifically state they DO cancel one another on a 1 for 1 basis. I used to think that u basically just had 2 different kinds of counters but I was corrected once I joined the site

Weird, I'm positive I posted a response to this a few days ago.

+1/+1 and -1/-1 counters do cancel, but it's done during state based actions, which is the same time that creatures die due to zero toughness. If a creature has enough -1/-1s to kill it, then it will go to the graveyard with those -1/-1s and any +1/+1s still on it, and undying won't trigger.

As long as it's toughness is positive, they are removed, and the creature can be sacrificed later. All my combos depend on sacrificing the creatures after the counters have been removed, not letting them die to zero toughness.

704.5f If a creature has toughness 0 or less, it's put into its owner's graveyard. Regeneration can't replace this event.

704.5r If a permanent has both a +1/+1 counter and a -1/-1 counter on it, N +1/+1 and N -1/-1 counters are removed from it, where N is the smaller of the number of +1/+1 and -1/-1 counters on it.

Have you thought about Gleancrawler ? It lets your burn up everything on some creatures like your breeder and still get them back.

Totally meant to say sac your breeder.

I would, but it's color identity is BG so it can't go in this deck. I tried making a BG version of this deck once for fun since there are so many green cards that work with Mikaues.

Idk your thoughts on Spike Cannibal , but I run him in the deck as a nice counter-wiper for my creatures If for any reason I need to recur some creatures that are maxed out already.

How about Mindless Automaton ? With one of the many sac outlets it's infinite draw shenanigans, if I'm not mistaken...

I could try to come up with a Mikaeus deck, but then yours is perfect! Congratutions on your 63rd like!

Now I guess the only thing left to do is plot a nasty Marchesa deck!! :D

Carrion Feeder is a great 1drop sac outlet, that can become dangerous even without your commander.

also Altar of Dementia is a nice way to mill your oponents library...

So many comments... thanks everyone.

Spike Cannibal is great in the deck, but it's built as a very quick insta-win combo deck right now. If (when) I retool it to be less competitive, it'll definitely have a place.

I like Mindless Automaton , but it costs 1 mana for each card I draw after the first, and half of them go to the graveyard. Although that is a good way to give Sheoldred, Whispering One targets to reanimate. A casual version would probably have more reanimate spells to make this valuable.

Carrion Feeder 's lack of evasion makes him weak compared to Flesh-Eater Imp and Devouring Swarm , even though it's mana cost is appealing.

I used to run Altar of Dementia , but had to cut it for space. It's definitely a fun way to win, but without something like Leyline of the Void , it can backfire against reanimator decks.

Thanks for the comments and +1s guys. After 2.5 years, this is still one of my favorite EDH decks to play and tweak.

Have you considered Kormus Bell ? It really does wonders in recursion decks, especially when it becomes a mass land destruction utility. Moreover, it allows continued reuse of sac lands like Buried Ruin or Strip Mine -- all of course in conjunction with Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth

How about Attrition as some sideboard removal?

hunter9000 As I said earlier, your deck is awesome, I have been looking at it every now and then to give me ideas when I decide to make my own Mikaeus EDH. I do have one question for you though, the deck seems to be very dependent on Mikaeus being on the board, how does it do when MIkaeus gets tucked in your deck or exiled back to the command zone? Thx

@illumfolly Hadn't considered that. It could be really nasty if I added Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth , since I run so many sweepers. I'll think about it.

@Flareking99 I've played with Attrition a bit, but it's a little slow for this build, since it's so focused on combo. It's definitely a great card though.

@PhilRock Thanks! Honestly, Mikaeus getting tucked is pretty bad news. That's why I run a full suite of protection equipment. When it happens, I just hope I can draw into a tutor soon to get him back.

@PhilRock lol

@ceji3 wut

Finally made my own version of Mikaeus!! Although I went a lot less combo-ish than you, I definitely got some from you here! Mine is reanimation-heavy / graveyard control themed.

Ch-check it out!! Grave Plot

@PhilRock Nice! I like it.

I think deleting comments is a paid only feature, I don't have that option. But I wouldn't want to delete them anyway.

Thanks for the suggestions, I haven't really looked at the Khans spoilers yet.

Kheru Bloodsucker is nice, but it's just a support card for a combo, it's not actually part of a combo itself, meaning it requires a separate sac outlet and sac fodder. All of the combos I have are enough to win without this card.

Retribution of the Ancients is good, and would be better in a version that didn't have creatures that remove their own +1/+1s.

Hey @Hunter9000, protip, when you update a deck, you can select the "hide comments" checkbox under the update description to hide all comments to date. If you can CSS well, you can also do some things with the comments section.

Though, I agree, I would keep the comments visible purely for posterity.
