All of my decks are budget builds that come under 25$. I created this one because I feel the mill design is a fun way to change up the normal match-ups.
The goal, as always, is to win. This deck does that in one of 2 ways. I either mill you to death, with the regular dimir mill characters. Consuming Aberration and Phenax, God of Deception. Or I pummel you with my ever increasing creatures, Nighthowler and Consuming Aberration. The kicker??? Dying Wish means that you have to deal with the enchantment before you deal with the creature.
Consuming Aberration is the key player here, a beast by the time you play him and a win con with Dying Wish.
Phenax, God of Deception is awesome because he combos really well with the ever increasing creatures that I use, he is indestructible, and hard for my opponents to deal with. Plus, I told his sister that I'd get him a job(me and her go way back, she's in my yoga class).
Nighthowler, bestow-able creature that can turn a Shipwreck Singer into a fatal hit with Dying Wish.
Shipwreck Singer is an early anti aggro device that won't become a dead card late game. I reasoned him over other blockers, because I feel that for 2 mana, he will stop more incoming damage than say, Murmuring Phantasm or Omenspeaker. And I can make him the target of bestow and swing with a heavy handed flyer.
Devour Flesh and Rapid Hybridization have the same function, creature control while allowing me to target my own creature with Dying Wish, and who doesn't love Frog-Lizards?. A Consuming Aberration with Dying Wish can net me the win in a very surprising way.
Duress is another form of control, if I don't like it, you don't get it. (a poor, poor man's Thoughtseize)
Tome Scour and Breaking / Entering are much needed as they provide early mill for Nighthowler and Consuming Aberration.
Pilfered Plans, not much to say here, Divination with a mill aspect.
Dying Wish. Oho you bad, bad enchantment. It most often becomes the win con. I'll put it on Consuming Aberration or any other creature with Nighthowler attached, and whenever my opponent is all tapped out, or if he tries to Sundering Growth my enchantment, I Devour Flesh my creature for a tricky way to take advantage of so much of standard's removal. It's pretty awesome.
I have to make sure to wait until my opponent is out of mana or wait until he tries to destroy the Dying Wish, because then I'll cast my Rapid Hybridization and it will resolve first (as opposed to him casting his spell after mine).
Any help, feedback, or discussion I would love, and as usual, +1's are much appreciated. Thanks for taking a look!
