Nice synergies, good removal. I would add Shape the Sands It might help get more cards in the graveyard faster.

I think Triton Tactics would be a good 4 of here.

Nice...BUT not enough mill in there. Have a look at mine No Milling Around

I like your deck HeroesBane but yours is modern and this one is standard. With this deck, I will either mill them with the walls, or beat them down with them. Im going to be adding in some Prophet of Kruphix like MyRoboDad suggested above, which will improve the amount of mill I can do, since I can do it on both turns mine and theirs.

Wiktul, I have been thinking about them. They have been in the maybeboard ever since AL_EXcalibur14 suggested it. I'm thinking about replacing Wall of Mulch with them.

Yeah, it's a good option, especially with the trick of morphing it and facing up for 0 with look at opponent's hand.

I'm running similiar idea, more based on ressurecting, but Phenax is also an option there, so take whatever you find usable for you Reanimator DTK

And I want to be straight about it - it's NOT an advertisement, don't feel compelled to upvote or something (I've been accused of such intentions recently, that's why I'm explaining it just in case :P )

By the way - what do you thikn about Monastery Flock? I know it's expensive, but it's still 5/5 flying for 3 (if Assault Formation is in play), resistant to each single burn and aprorpiate for the mill.

Love the deck, I'm trying to do an abzan variation right now, but ultimately I think Sultai is going to make the best use of assault formation. Have you considered Foul Renewal , I know it is situational, but if you collected company phenax by accident, you could get him back and hit a creature for -7/-7. It is a little pricey, but at least it is an instant. Maybe in the side against heavy creature decks.

Sultai Flayer might not be a bad choice atleast for the sideboard

I would suggest at least one Sphinx's Tutelage in the sideboard. It's pretty great against mono decks.

I really like your deck Idea. I also want to make mill a thing for this new block in standard. I'm not to fond of the Mindwrack Demon, but as an early game alternative you could try Fathom Feeder he's a two drop () with Ingest and Deathtouch. Did I mention that he can also trigger Sphinx's Tutelage by paying () instead of () without the discard effect, and also causes your opponent to exile the top card of his or her library. I think you should consider it. You can message me if you have any questions @ S3Th97 (:

If you're going to play counterspells, I highly recommend Void Shatter over Deny Existence. Considering 75% of your manabase is blue, hitting this on turn 3 or 4 will be extremely easy.

Also, I would focus more on Sphinx's Tutelage rather than Mindwrack Demon. Getting Delirium triggers is going to be especially tough, and you don't want to have to waste an Ultimate Price on it to keep yourself from dying. Thing in the Ice  Flip can stay, though, because it can't kill you.

If you do choose to play more of Tutelage, I would switch Anticipate to Catalog... But if you wish to stay with this control shell, the mill is too flashy, I think. One or the other.

Manic Scribe(UC from SOI) is great in the deck, as well as Palace Familiar(C from DTK). Both two drops, the Sribe mills three and maybe more if delirium turns on, and the Familiar is a flying chump blocker that activates Sphinx's Tutelage.

I hadn't thought about Fathom Feeder, but that also slots in very well.

Another thing that I thought of the other day that I want to play test is to run Mirrorpools to copy the Startled Awakes.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

@Skxawng good call on Void Shatter over Deny Existence. I also upped the tutelage count and took out the Mindwrack Demon entirely. I think for now I will stick with the Anticipate as it lets me pick the card I will draw from the top 3, and costs less.

@S3Th97 I liked your suggestion of Fathom Feeder over Mindwrack Demon. I had forgotten that card exists.

@jturn314 I will check those cards out and see if I can find a home for them here. I will also look into Mirrorpool copying the Startled Awake  Flip seems fun.

As Skxawng put it you should add Void Shatter and Catalog as a better alternative. He also does bring up a good point as to why you should remove Mindwrack Demon. Also jturn314 that's an interesting card to bring up. I feel like I would only run two Mirrorpools and also two Corrupted Crossroads in order to pull it off and still be able to mana fix if needed for 1 life. Although you would need to pay () in order to cast Startled Awake  Flip and another (Waste) to activate Mirrorpool's second ability while the sorcery is on the stack and still viable. Still Pretty cool for potentially milling your opponent for 26 cards.

Okay so the number one problem I'm having with your deck is that I'm always mana swamped. I think for early game purposes you should be okay with at least 22 lands instead of 24. Try it out (:

quakenbake says... #18

Compelling Deterrence seems better than Just the Wind here. Hits any nonland permanent for the same mana since you're not doing much to discard.

S3Th97 says... #19

quakenbake has a point there. It would allow you to bounce back any nonland permanent instead of being restricted to just a creature, but Just the Wind combos well with Sphinx's Tutelage's ability which allows you pay the () to draw a card and then discard a card.

Since you are playing a form of control, why not Duress or Transgress the Mind for some good ol' hand hate?

I'm really curious to know if this deck is effective for you, I am trying to create a suitable mill deck to play at FNM
