Thought Scour might find a nice place here. Mind Sculpt might be a little too drastic to use on yourself. I've seen Gnaw to the Bone be REALLY annoying in a deck like this before lol.

@MistaSlick: hmm I'm not sure why the link isn't working at the moment. It was just a little bit ago... Maybe something happened on their end. Yes this is a self-mill deck. The current deck is cards that I already have. The maybeboard minus Ancient Grudge are all cards that are in the linked deck that aren't in mine.
@ExNagol: Thought Scour could be nice, but I think at the moment I mill myself fast enough. Mind Sculpt would be ridiculous! lol I've saved myself many times with Gnaw to the Bone ! I'm thinking the biggest thing I need to help speed the deck up is the lands in the maybeboard. (Hinterland Harbor & Woodland Cemetery ) The only object there is money. (I feel that $3.00ish for a land is kind of expensive considering basic lands go for $0.05-$0.10) I may just suck it up and buy them though. The only other issue is a friend runs 2x card:Tormod's Crypt which sucks with this deck. :'( I was looking at getting Naturalize from the deck in the link, but found Ancient Grudge and now I'm considering that for it's flashback since I mill myself so much.
@MistaSlick: Haha I just tried the link again as I'm finishing this comment and it seems to be working again. Must have just been bad timing for the website! :P

Yeah, card:Tormod's Crypt is quite the issue...Ancient Grudge seems like the all around answer to that. Land is just one of those things that will always cost a fair amount of money, unfortunately. My advice is to look around online, which is usually always cheaper than stores, or find someone to trade with. Sometimes you can get lucky.
But either way, it's usually a good investment if you're serious about putting the time and money into a deck. Plus, you can always use them for casual play in the years to come. I'd almost say and wait until they reveal what lands are going to be in Return to Ravnica since it's right around the corner and I know there's alot of talk about some sweet lands that'll be released in that set. Which would probably lower the innistrad lands prices some.
August 29, 2012 12:45 a.m.
Yea I think I'll just have to suck it up and buy the lands, but that is a good point on waiting for them to drop in price (hopefully) once Return to Ravnica comes out...I may even end up spending more money if the lands are even more awesome! XD

Funny thing is I believe if I remove Halimar Depths and replace it with Woodland Cemetery , Hinterland Harbor , and normal mana the deck would be standard viable! :D

Red, I'll definitely be getting 2 more Tormod's for my mill deck now after seeing this, and I'll need to toss in a couple more counter spells to get rid of those pesky destroy artifact cards;)

Oh and Red another issue for your Tormod's issue is that I run Elixir of Immortality with it and Tezzeret the Seeker ... ahaha so in other words if you put away my Tormod's I can still pull it back out within 2 turns and exile your graveyard, again, and again! Hahahahaha. Hopefully you find a way around this;)
September 8, 2012 12:58 p.m.
Yea that does make it more difficult, but Ancient Grudge also works on Elixir of Immortality ! :P
Also I don't have the lands or some of the cards in this yet, but as of now this is the finished product. I'm waiting for this newest set to come out and then I'll see if it has any lands that I would want over the current ones I've added.

I have one question and two comments:
Question: Why are you using card:Avacyn's Pilgrim rather than, say, Arbor Elf , since your deck does not use white mana?
Comment 1: I would replace Ancient Grudge with Naturalize since, other than the two Shimmering Grotto s, you have no way to produce red mana.
Comment 2: Halimar Depths is from worldwake and so is not standard. Consider replacing it with card:Tracker's Instincts or, possibly, Forbidden Alchemy .
February 24, 2013 10:23 p.m.
Thanks for the comment. I plan on working Unburial Rites into the deck and that was why card:Avacyn's Pilgrim is there. I still have yet to decide what to take out if I want it at all. Otherwise something close to Arbor Elf would work great!
I mill myself a ton of cards with this deck which can lead to my down fall sometimes, but cards with flashback such as Ancient Grudge help ease my worries of throwing away cards that I need.
I didn't see that I had Halimar Depths still in my sideboard. Thanks for letting me know! At the moment, if you can't already tell, my sideboard is a huge work in progress, so any more advice there would be much appreciated!

I think you should remove Ancient Grudge and put Laboratory Maniac
February 25, 2013 12:01 a.m.
The Ancient Grudge s are nice to have for artifact removal, but dropping two for two Laboratory Maniac s couldn't hurt...I'll see how it runs. Thanks for the advice!
February 26, 2013 8:46 p.m.
Ghoultree would go well in this deck. and have you play tested this deck because unless Laboratory Maniac is nessecary i would't sujest it.
April 29, 2013 12:46 a.m.
Ghoultree is nice, but I can get bigger creatures/ more out with Boneyard Wurm , Splinterfright , and Kessig Cagebreakers . I could maybe cut out some of the smaller creatures in favor of more big baddies. I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.
I have play tested this quite a bit and so far this is the best that I've ( and with the advice of others) come up with. I have on occasion milled myself out and won still because of Laboratory Maniac . I agree he's not the main point of the deck, but having two of them just in case is a nice reassurance.
Thanks for your input!

Memory's Journey is nice. Check out Miller's Tale for ideas if you'd like.
July 29, 2013 2:51 a.m.
I love the idea and I think you have a good grasp of it. One thing, though - technically you are running a 5 color deck here and you only have two white cards, two red cards and two black cards (for the flashbacks, I assume). I would pull those out and replace them with similar green/blue spells, even if you lose the flashbacks, the whole thing should be less reliant upon getting the exact right mana. Then you could also drop Shimmering Grotto
, which would speed you up a bit.
Ancient Grudge and Ray of Revelation can both be replaced by Naturalize . There really isn't a green or blue card as good as Unburial Rites for getting Cagebreakers back into play, but if you are using it on any other creature Nature's Spiral is cheap cmc and Eternal Witness is one mana more but comes with a free chump blocker.
July 29, 2013 3:19 a.m.
quakenbake: Memory's Journey is nice, but It doesn't guarantee getting the card I want back. Most of my cards have flashback and Unburial Rites will bring back any of my creatures. If I do cut out Ancient Grudge and Ray of Revelation for Naturalize then it might server more of a purpose. Thanks for the suggestion! I'll be sure to keep it in mind.
paperhead: That is true, and I like the flashback, but I'll give it a try without and see how it goes. I like the idea of Nature's Spiral and Eternal Witness , but again the lack of flashback bugs me. It will be a new venture for me, but the chump block and pump (once it's in the graveyard) of Eternal Witness is nice.
Thanks for all of the suggestions and I'll see how they work out!
July 29, 2013 4:17 p.m.
That it is! I have a few friends who groan when they see this deck come out. Makes me tough to kill when the more cards in my graveyard makes me stronger! Thanks for the comment and +1!

This is my self mill deck: Mill Me, I Dare You.
You may get some ideas from it, my only suggestion would be to swap Mulch for Grisly Salvage , you mill more and it can be used as a combat trick with Boneyard Wurm and Splinterfright .
August 13, 2013 5:48 a.m.
Nice find! I'll definitely look at getting some Grisly Salvage s! Thanks for the comment and I'll take a look at your deck.

Looks pretty cool to me. My only suggestion is Wreath of Geists . Even if you only got to attack a few times with the enchanted creature it is still doubly big for stupid cheap.
August 21, 2013 6:17 p.m.
The problem I'm running into now is which cards to take out and which cards to keep haha. I'll give Wreath of Geists a try, and maybe it will make the deck faster! Thanks for the advice!
