With Heartless Summoning , you can cast it for free. However, it immediately dies from the -1/-1 of Heartless Summoning . When you cast the second Myr Retriever , it dies as well and returns the one in your graveyard to your hand. You can then play the one in your hand for free, but it dies and returns the one in grave to your hand... it basically loops the 2 Myrs to create infinite storm count, so when you cast Grapeshot , it copies it a billion times and kills your opponent.

infernal tutor searched for your second retriever or for another shred memory so you can grab two pieces. i feel like there is another transmute card the fits as a two cmc?

Throw in like 2 Overgrown Tomb for Ancient Stirrings .

There is another, but it's Blue Black, and thus requires 1UB in it's transmute cost. Other than that, I'm not sure.

Infernal Tutor seems great. What would your suggested cut be?

Ancient Stirrings seems too narrow, and I don't really want the mana to get worse overall, even with fetches.

Try Blood Funnel , it'll do the same thing as Heartless Summoning , as you can sacrifice the other Myr Retriever .

Double Blue would be hard to hit without a significant mana base change.

I would run Blackcleave Cliffs over Dragonskull Summit

Hey there, friend. It looks just like my deck I have just finished. I understand the aversion to blue, but it really does help vastly. It is a glass canon at its finest for the need of three cards to make the combo go off. Blue opens you up to better cantrips and Swan Song/Spell Pierce/Dispel. Here is my deck if you want to take some inspiration.

Bitter Ordeal is essentially a more expensive Grapeshot , so I don't like it overall.
