This deck really revolves around reducing your opponent's options by countering their spells, murdering their creatures, and milling their deck. The alternate win condition for this deck, aside from decking my opponent, is to hit them with a beefy Consuming Aberration or a powered up Tormented Soul /Mirko Vosk, Mind Drinker .
I envision the deck working something like this:
Kraken Hatchling
and Fog Bank are in the deck to provide bodies to block against aggressive creatures, while Tormented Soul provides me with an unblockable creature that I can throw my Trepanation Blade and Paranoid Delusions on to hit my opponent for (hopefully) big numbers while milling them. Mirko Vosk mills the opponent really quickly, and once Consuming Aberration[[ hits the field it should be pretty large and be able to hit for massive damage (assuming the damage goes through) while continuing to mill the opponent. [[Judge's Familiars provide cheap fliers while allowing me to counter my opponent's spells, and Psychic Strike lets me hard counter and mill at the same time.
I have sideboarded Nightveil Specter in the event that I play a U or B deck, as I can play their cards and slow them down using their own creatures. Negate and Dispel are sideboarded for a game against a control deck, and Jace, Memory Adept is included as a draw engine and to mill my opponent in a slower game.
There are three things that concern me about this deck that I would love getting input on. First, if I mill a Reanimator deck, I am actually helping them out by putting creatures into their graveyard. I don't see any way around this currently. Second, if someone Tormod's Crypts or
Crypt Incursion
s their graveyard, my Consuming Aberration is useless. Third, the deck's mana curve is pretty bumpy, and I would like to smooth out my curve and speed the deck up a bit.
Any comments/suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!
