Try Szadek, Lord of Secrets as the commander sounds perfect for a mill commander deck.

Honestly, I'd love to make Mesmeric Orb my commander, haha. For a 5 player game that card is AMAZING and it stops a lot of opposing combos.

For this deck Phyrexian Altar plus Gravecrawler and Consuming Aberration also works, as does Altar of the Brood (you still need a zombie, but that's not really hard). Altar can be fetched with Fabricate or Drift of Phantasms - or gotten with a Tunnel Vision if you're feeling reckless. Lim-Dul's Vault can also be used for that.

...and all of which is secondary. The deck does surprisingly well with Vosk + a big Mind Grind or a kicked Sadistic Sacrament . Keening Stone is also very dangerous - the deck might need a Voltaic Key or other artifact untap mechanism to drive that harder.

In terms of deck changes, I'm thinking about pulling Ob Nixilis, Unshackled for a Mindlock Orb . A little more spot removal seems in order, too (Dismember is in my decklist but not yet in my actual deck).

The primary decks I'm playing against right now are: Riku, Sharuum, Rakdos, Momir-Vig, and Marath (+ occasional Ghave).

@Evoksva_

I'm afraid I must completely disagree with you over opinion of combo decks in EDH/Commander. The playgroup I'm apart of runs heavy combo decks, and not only are they completely viable, they're consistent, and hilarious. The trick to a great combo deck in Commander is, believe it or not, redundancy. Even though you're only allowed to have one card of each name in your deck, it doesn't mean you can't find cards that do the exact same thing.

As an extremely basic example, Sign in Blood and Night's Whisper are the exact same card, the only difference is their name and sets they're printed in, however their functions are the same.

For more interesting examples, I will use cards and combo's from Sleazebag's Mikaeus, Extreme Sub $20 Budget EDH, as proof that not only can combos function, they can be friendly to the wallet. :D

Here are some more redundancies that are used as sac outlets Fallen Angel , Flesh-Eater Imp , Nantuko Husk Phyrexian Ghoul , etc. These are all different creatures that allow you to do the same thing, sac some fodder and pump them up.

How would this work? With the fodder of course, and the right buffs.Triskelion , Pith Driller , Tatterkite , Skinrender , etc. All these need to make them viable is the proper buff, and in this case, the proper element to make this viable is Mikaeus, the Unhallowed . As the Commander of the deck, he's usually within easy reach, and if he gets tucked (And you're aware that this scenario could happen), you keep a tutor handy to go get him again.

This very basic form is the groundwork for combo decks to function in EDH.

From the sounds of things, your experience with combo deck have been less than entertaining, and for that I am very sorry. Combo deck great fun to play, and even greater fun to mess with as the opponent.

Sorry for the off topic gentica! The deck looks fantastic :D How does it fare against the Eldrazi kings? And as others have suggested, tutors would be a great addition to this deck.

Nobody in my playgroup uses legendary Eldrazi, so it's not something I've planned for. If they were a factor I'd probably try to exile from their library (e.g. Bitter Ordeal , Sadistic Sacrament ) and add a Leyline of the Void to the deck.

This deck was nicely featured on the Wizard's site today: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/ct/lite-brite-might

Whetwheel ? I plan on using it in my EDH mill deck once I finish it. Increasing Confusion as well. +1 from me.

Jace's Erasure I think should be considered here.

I am a big fan of Phenax, God of Deception for this kind of deck. It turns any of your creatures into a mill engine/gives them something to do if you can't get attacks through. It also gives you an indestructible body if you have enough on the board.

I think Duplicant is a bit too expensive for a clone, personally. If you're in Blue, then you have access to the really good, cheap ones. Often the benefit to a clone is that you can get a discounted beater or utility creature who can do something outside of your colors. Maybe Duplicant is better in nonblue decks. In place of Duplicant, I recommend Thassa, God of the Sea to help Mirko get a punch in. Otherwise, better clones are Clever Impersonator (versatile) and Phantasmal Image (cheap) and Stolen Identity (recyclable).

If you add in a more versatile clone like the Impersonator, then you could cut Sculpting Steel for Chromatic Lantern to gain some fantastic mana fixing (and Dimir flavor text!)

You could also cut Drift of Phantasms since it seems to be pretty vanilla and you really can't afford the slot for a creature that is a picky tutor at best and a bland wall at worst. Jace's Archivist or Undercity Informer might be a bit better at providing some utility that Drift just doesn't offer.

Ghost Quarter can thin out at least one land in a game and act as removal for a pesky Gaea's Cradle or whatever.

I'm not a fan of Altar of Shadow in this deck. Maybe better off would be a Jester's Cap or Avatar of Woe / Royal Assassin. Choose between additional land removal or recursive spot removal. 14 CMC to kill your first creature and 7CMC thereafter is way too prohibitive given that you're in black and have access to the cheapest removal in Magic. Play your strengths, I say. Otherwise it's like having a huge, slow Charcoal Diamond.

Think of a Memory Erosion over either Jace's Erasure or the Selhoff Occultist.Crumbling Sanctuary seems to be basically worthless in this deck, to be honest. When in a 4 player game you have a clock of 63 commander damage, 120 life as a beater deck, and a clock of 276 as a mill deck. For this reason, you should not try and prevent the most viable win condition when using a strategy that depends on your commander connecting. Maybe include a Strionic Resonator instead. That will let you dupe Mirko/ Nemesis/ Alchemist's abilities and help you land screw your opponents more effectively.

Army of the Damned? Yikes. For that much mana you should be winning the game. Try a Rite of Replication on Consuming Aberration, Rise of the Dark Realms or at least a boardwipe a la Life's Finale.

Altar of Dementia is sweet tech in a mill deck. If someone boardwipes you with huge stolen creatures on board, several zombie tokens, or an 80/80 Aberration just respond by saccing him to the Altar of the Mill God and erase the offender from the game.

Aqueous Form or Whispersilk Cloak over Writ of passage. You will want the scry and the ability to help your fatties sneak in hits. Despite the double use, the 2 power clause is just too restrictive.

If you want more ideas, look at my list. I run Mirko as an alternate flavor-centric general Welcome to the Undercity. Overall, I give you a +1 for the novel approach to milling. I had considered trying to make grinding more viable, but in UB there are few options available. You could also name this deck 'Mirko Vosk, the Mind Grinder'.
