I got tired of being crushed by other players' decks every time I went to the local game store. After all, they can’t beat me if they don’t have a deck to play against me with.

Early Game (Turns 1–3)

  1. Ramp and Setup: In the beginning, focus on placing your ramping rocks, then move on to card advantage. Use your cheap counters to protect your board state and disrupt your opponents.
  2. Draw and Filter: Use our lovely drawing cards—Brainstorm, Ponder, and Sensei's Divining Top—to find those combo pieces.

Mid Game (Turns 4–7)

  1. Mill Engines: Make sure to start milling opponents with our mill factories, this does include casting The Mindskinner.
  2. Game Control: It is important to have mana available for our counterspells. Since this deck is mill-focused, counterspells function as our creatures.
  3. Tutoring and Combos: This deck features some tutors, such as Mystical Tutor and Fabricatefoil. Make sure to locate your crucial mill engines, like Riverchurn Monument, or adapt by finding a counterspell.

Late Game (Turns 8+)

  1. Opponent Death: We can mill large portions of libraries using Traumatize and pair it with Riverchurn Monument for an easy win. If and when the time comes, we have plenty of win conditions revolving around a self-drawn library.
  2. Adapt: When it comes to Magic: The Gathering, it is important to adapt and remain flexible with our counterspells. Every player has a unique deck and their own play style.

Tips

  • Manage Resources: Always reserve some mana for our counterspells.
  • Card Advantage: Focusing on card draw ensures a consistent flow of resources into the deck.
  • Targeting: Concentrating on the most threatening opponent is likely the best strategy.

Feel free to share your suggestions or any additional ideas. Completing this deck took me countless hours. Sidenote: Let me know if this should belong in Bracket 4 instead of Bracket 5. I designed it with cEDH in mind.

Updates Add

You can check the revisions to see all card updates. The most notable update was the inclusion of extra turn spells, such as Time Warp and Expropriate. Additionally, a more control-focused approach was adopted with the addition of hate cards. Examples include Kira, Great Glass-Spinner, Winter Moon, and Crawlspace, among others.
