YES, I WANT THIS DECK ALL FOILY. YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO JUDGE ME.
We all <3 Minotaurs. Each of us has had that little yearning in our heart to play a tribal Minotaur deck at some point (if you haven't, you're simply a hater). The question is, how do you make it viable?
Most people have looked toward some combination of aggro/burn, and in that sense I haven't deviated from the norm. This is my take on it.
THE ALLSTAR
All by himself, without any tribal assistance, Minotaur Skullcleaver grunts his way to the top of the pile. He's a 4/2 with haste when he hits the board. Quite frankly, I'm confused by most people choosing to run Boros Reckoner. Yes, it's a good card, but I feel he doesn't fit the aggro shell as well and can't hit as fast.
THE PROBLEMS (and they are many)
There isn't a very strong 2-drop in Minotaurs, unfortunately. I'm running Deathbellow Raider, but he by no means has the best horns in the pack (what do you call a group of angry bull men anyway?) The biggest matchup for this deck is no doubt control. It just rips this deck a new one if you don't win by turn 4-5, which is hard with all their removal/countering. So my sideboard is in part constructed to deal with it. The inclusion of Ragemonger in Born of the Gods helped to make cards like Kragma Warcaller playable.
IS THIS DECK ANY GOOD?
CONSIDER this example, young Minotaur initiate. You have Kragma Warcaller and Rageblood Shaman on the table. You drop Minotaur Skullcleaver and swing with all. Suddenly Minotaur Skullcleaver is a 7/3 with trample. You attack with everything and play Titan's Strength. He's now a 10/4 with trample. Swinging with all 3 creatures, you have the potential do deal 20 damage if they don't block.
That's enough talking I think...HIT THE LIKE BUTTON ALREADY.
Also, you know, leave some feedback or something like that. Mogis would approve.
