I was actually considering that one, I took it out of the Maybeboard yesterday though..
One thing in particular I can't decide on is the Brass Squire / Puresteel Paladin story. Both have obvious advantages, the Squire gets pumped by Tempered Steel, lets me equip, and counts towards metalcraft, but while the Paladin doesn't get any benefit from Tempered Steel, it gives me free equip cost and some minor card draw. I'l probably have to try a few games and see which one fits the deck flow better.

Oh yeah, and I've only got one Oblivion Ring.. I wouldn't mind getting more, but it was going to be in the sideboard for the moment (when I get to sorting that out).

i'd drop the Argentum Armor in favour of Mentor of the Meek the armor is too damn expensive IMO it just wont see play or get equipped, you need to have won by turn 6 really with a fast deck like this so it will be a little wasted and i would always prefer dropping a Sun Titan over the armor, also adding 2x Sword of Feast and Famine would speed you up massively given the essentially double mana every turn and making them discard for this is would drop the Accorder's Shield

Hey maiden77, thanks for the suggestions.. I'd love to get some of the Swords, I do kinda prefer Sword of War and Peace to Sword of Feast and Famine though (on an unblocked Mirran Crusader and 6 cards in opponent's hand means 20 damage straight up), but I don't own either of them at the moment.
Accorder's Shield was originally there for cheap card draw with Puresteel Paladin out, but that idea really hasn't helped me very much. :/
I'm already thinking of dropping one Puresteel Paladin and both Accorder's Shields (not too keen to drop the Sun Titan or Argentum Armor just yet though, the cards haven't even arrived yet :D ), but I'll have to dig around in my cards at home and see what I can put in their place in the mean time. I'm sure I've got some slightly more interesting Equipment hiding somewhere...
March 27, 2012 6:39 a.m.
hey dude :-) dont drop Puresteel Paladin hes amazing i love him lol hes your best and possibly only chance of ever equipping that Argentum Armor IMO. the good thing about the feast and famine is that the prot i think is more applicable with all the deathspells and Beast Within knocking about altho i suppose red and white have enough removal too these days! on the plus side i do believe feast and famine is half the cost? :-P i know what you mean tho! looks nice though mate +1 from me
March 27, 2012 7:20 a.m.
Awesome, thanks for the +1. :D
I suppose the '0 Equip cost' from Puresteel Paladin would be better than trying to use Brass Squire to equip it... I was thinking of keeping 1x Puresteel and 2x Squires because of Tempered Steel.
However, I'm going to try it with two Argentum Armor to improve my chances of drawing it (mana hasn't been too much of a problem in playtests). If that backfires I'll just sideboard one. :)
According to MagicCards.info 'average prices', Feast and Famine is about $30 at the moment, while War and Peace is about $40, both of which are slightly out of reach for me at the moment. Maybe one day though... :D
March 27, 2012 8:29 a.m.
ah right thought the feast was a little less and the war and peace a little more haha still i feel for ya there mate. it took me 6 months to get every equipment i wanted for my equipment EDH deck and it cost a bomb!

Right, little bit of tweaking... I replaced the 2x Accorder's Shields with 2x Livewire Lash, sideboarded the 2x Brass Squires for now, and added 1x Darksteel Plate. That will also drop the deck from 61 to a nice round 60.
The +2/+0 and "deal 2 damage" from the Lashes will probably be more helpful than the +0/+3 and Vigilance from the Shields, besides it's fun dealing 2 damage to something/someone when you give a creature protection from something. :)
Time for a playtest...

I would up a couple creatures to 4 each, namely Puresteel Paladin, Mirran Crusader, Etched Champion.
I'd make a few minor tweaks to artifacts, mainly taking out Golem's Heart & Angel's Feather for 4xSilver-Inlaid Daggers.
Then I'd think about trading out your 2xLivewire Lash for two Honor the Pure. This along with upping to 4xPuresteel Paladins would help with your concern posted in comment 2, comment 4.
Another little trick for a deck like this would be to trade out two Plains for 2xContested War Zones.
Lastly I'd add 2xNorn's Annex to the Mainboard, slows other white decks and is kinda like a [[manabarbs] mixed with Isolation Cell against every other color, great little card.

I forgot to mention Porcelain Legionnaire benefits from both Honor the Pure & Tempered Steel maybe bump it up to 3x of 'em.

Hey Minousmancer, I like the way you think.. :D Very nice ideas.
At the moment I only have 2 of most of these cards (including Puresteel Paladin, Mirran Crusader, Etched Champion and Tempered Steel), I am hoping to get more sometime soon though. I think I might have a full playset of Norn's Annex though, so I might actually run two and sideboard the two extra.
I'll hunt around and see what I can find this weekend. Between FNM and our little 'Church of Magic' (we play every Sunday, religiously, lol) I should hopefully be able to find some more...
Lately I've also been very tempted to thin out the White and splash Black into the mix for some attention from things like Vault Skirge, Diabolic Tutor, Doom Blade, Go for the Throat, Tragic Slip, Vault of the Archangel, etc etc.. So currently I'm trying to focus more on the 'Artifact' side rather than the 'White' side of this deck to keep my options open.

Here, I made this for you: deck:honor-the-puresteel
I added Vault of the Archangel before I read this comment, Playsetted Norn's Annex as you thought 2 in 2 out.
Tragic Slip is a #GREAT Card, but you shouldn't need it. Tribute to Hunger you might want to Sideboard 4. The other Black cards are good but you do not need them, they'll just slow you down.
Lastly, consider this with much thought, with the build I made based off your design, add 2xTrue Conviction by dropping 1 each: Honor of the Pure & Tempered Steel. It might not work in this deck and was totally an afterthought.

I just can't help the feeling that this needs some spot removal... Maybe I should try get my hands on the Phyrexian mana symbol ones, something like Dismember would be good. Surgical Extraction would also be quite useful (and catch opponents by surprise in a mono-White deck, I love doing that).
Looking at the modifications you made (did a quick playtest again my pet Goldfish, and I won. :P lol), I'd say the Angel's Feathers and/or Golem's Hearts would definitely be the first to go if and when I can get more Puresteel Paladins, Etched Champions, Mirran Crusader or Tempered Steels.
Otherwise, I think I'll keep the rest of it much the same for the moment, I'd like to give it a couple games first and then tweak it a bit more. :)

I Play-tested deck:honor-the-puresteel v.s Mirran Elite ignoring both's Sideboards and H.t.P went 9-0 over M.E
I added Mimic Vat to compliment Mirrorworks so you get the on the way in and on the way out. The other Artifacts I took out was only to make room for the 4xHonor of the Pure & 4xTempered Steel. I took the Bobbles(life gaining Artifacts) out for the 4xSilver-Inlaid Daggers.
Between Honor of the Pure & Tempered Steel, Porcelain Legionnaire becomes such a Badass. I'm actually starting to like 'em. I got it up to a 15/13 within a couple of turn over half the games I played through.
Mono-White, surprises, check out the Maybeboard, I set it up as an alternate 15 card Sideboard that will make your enemies scratch their heads and curse you either under their breath or outright to your face!
March 28, 2012 5:56 a.m.
Yeah, even with just 2x Tempered Steel, Porcelain Legionnaire will be good fun.. I've used them in an Extended deck running 3x Marshal's Anthems before (returning creatures that died early is a nice side-effect too), and I think I'll do the same when I get the Tempered Steels next time I do an Extended tournament. :)
Thanks again for all the help, I've got a much more focused goal to work towards now with this deck..

I would consider droping Angel's Feather for Mentor of the Meek I know it isn't an artifact but having the extra draw will speed up your deck and make it a lot more aggro oriented which seems to be what this deck wants to do and I would also consider some removal type spells like Oblivion Ring in place of some equipment.
