Mishra, Artificer Prodigy has a powerful effect that I want to take advantage of. This deck idea was born from the wish to either create a deck for Modern or Casual that can properly take advantage of Mishra, Artificer Prodigy while functioning fast and competently enough to keep up with other decks. Looking at the card, perhaps this is a pipe dream. But at least it looks cool.
There are four main things that happen in this deck:
A.) Mishra, Artificer Prodigy is used to two-for-one every artifact spell you cast.B.) Small are played for small utility-based reason such as draw cards and tutor for landsC.) Krark-clan Ironwork crushes your small artifacts for manaD.) Expensive artifacts are played
The main interaction I am currently looking at is Mishra, Artificer Prodigy and Krark-Clan Ironworks. When a small artifact is played and Mishra,Artificer Prodigy is in play, he gets you a copy, from whatever location. This not only nets you double the benefit, but effectively ramps your available mana, since those artifacts will inevitably be thrown to Krark-Clan Ironworks. This mana is then used to play a large artifact (likely a creature), that you then receive a copy of, if all goes well.
Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is present for two reasons:
A,) To get more artifacts, large or small, to play.B.) To provide creatures, if necessary.
The deck also contains Shrapnel Blast and Stoic Rebuttal. The former is for both removal and, in cases where it is applicable, direct damage. The latter is present to deal with any particularly obnoxious spells, such as large creatures, non-Supreme Verdict wrath, theft, etc.
Obviously, much work is needed here, and the fact that I am attempting to reconstruct this from a distant memory of an idea I worked on almost a year ago does not help. Nothing to do but go through the process again.
