Wurmlover hapatra vizier of poisons doesn't exist in the database for the website yet, mikaeus is going in the 99 but the site requires a commander be named so he is the "commander" until hapatra is in the database.

If you are going to run the cycle lands, might as well go all out and make this a ramp deck. Could be pretty easy if you use Burgeoning and Exploration

Zimmers_0 good ideas, I'll have to see if exploration will fit the budget. I much prefer your method of abusing Archfiend of Ifnir though, I don't want to wander too far from negative counters and tokens.

Vhati il-Dal works nicely with -1/-1 counters.
Pharika, God of Affliction also does what you wanna do.
Beastmaster Ascension make your snakes into big scary snakes.
Doubling Season if money is no concern.
Infect creatures would also work great here especially Necroskitter. It may lead to hate but your horde of 1/1 D/T snake tokens should suffice as adequate chump blockers and/or deterrents.

Flagellum I wish money wasn't a concern... but I'll have to wait to find a trade at my LGS for doubling. I find infect fun to play against but using it makes me feel dirty. The rest of those are good, ascension might be overkill but that is always fun. Thanks for helping.
April 9, 2017 10:56 p.m.
Oh don't get me wrong I understand budget constraints lol. I always hated the "Where's Doubling Season you need to run it" comments. Sad thing is I used to own ~5 copies and traded em all in around the $15 mark. Yeah really kicking myself for that one.
As far as infect goes, you should feel dirty! But that's why you play em! It just plays to the theme, like Wither v2.0.
BA is just a wincon. Swinging with 6/6 D/T critters is scary. Give them trample and it's a garunteed 5 damage to opponents (I'm sure you're aware that you need only to assign 1 point of combat damage to your opponent's critter to kill it if your critter has it/trample. The rest gets assigned to your opponent).

this commander would really want to keep that demon you were on the fence about. I generally have 35-50 creatures in a deck so I would start by cutting there. I don't think second harvest would double counters, only tokens. I would include a Worldly Tutor so you can find your Archfiend of Ifnir quicker to take advantage of the discard/cycling stuff. Might not make the cut but Serrated Arrows might work in this.

Zimmers_0, Daedalus19876 dunno if you guys have better information on this or not but figured id share.
So I conversed on here: http://chat.magicjudges.org/mtgrules/ about Hapatra and this is what I learned:
Me: hello first time I've used this. I have some questions about how Hapatra vizier of poisons works. Her card reads "Whenever you put one or more -1/-1 counters on a creature, create a 1/1 green Snake creature token with deathtouch." Lots of other people are questioning whether infect and wither count for her ability. Also cards like diety of scars enter with negative counters, would her ability activate off that? Basically when a source I control creates a negative counter am i putting that negative counter or is some other thing placing the negative counter?
Judge: we wont know until rules update.
Judge: Currently there's nothing in the rules that states who puts the -1/-1 counters on a permanent, so we don't really have any guidance there
Judge: it is currently fuzzy on whether the game rules add the counters from damage, or if a player is putting them on and if a player puts them on, if it's the controller of the damage source, or the controller of the creature.
Judge: so we'll have to wait for the rules update/faq
Judge: as far as cards that entering with counters, you're putting them on.
Me: ok, thank you.

Zimmers_0 and Daedalus19876 the amonkhet rulings are here, this is the most relevant.
"Some effects care about which player puts counters on an object. Most spells and abilities instruct their controller to put those counters with an implied "you," such as the ability of Channeler Initiate does. For an object entering the battlefield with counters, its controller puts those counters on it." -https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/feature/amonkhet-release-notes-2017-04-14

147 is a bit high! I know how hard it is to choose between what cards should stay and what should go. I'm terrible at that decision so I'm going to let someone else help you out there. I will say that a lot of your removal is pretty weak. Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos are super effective board wipes that even deal with indestructible and protection. With the amount of death that goes on either of these would be awesome compared to what you have.

MoGoose831 Thank you. I'm expecting the deck to be really good at removing creatures with all the negative counters but it would be nice to make people sac their giant creatures, a 10/10 will take awhile to negative to death...

This is honestly a really sweet deck! I love all the combos and how the theme flows throughout the deck. I might suggest Phyrexian Altar to get more mana out of the tokens and perhaps Diabolic Intent or other tutors for some more consistent plays?
Overall, I think this is a cool, affordable deck that looks like a blast to play. +1 from me.

This deck looks like a lot of fun but may I suggest an infect package. This just makes a great alternate win-con and because they do damage in the form of -1/-1 counters it has wonderful synergy with Hapatra and the poison counters with the proliferate effects. If infect isn't your thing.. I know a lot of players don't like it.. wither also deals damage in the same way.

bushido_man96 Thank you.
Maelstrom_Artificer Thanks. Phyrexian Altar is one I'll have to keep an eye open for or wait for a little extra money to come my way. As for tutors I'd normally run 3-4 in a deck but I want to play a bit without, just a little experiment. Definitely a good idea and really ups consistency.
FoxInSox14 Thank you. I don't mind playing against infect. After all I do run infinite combos... I just can't bring myself to use it. It is a good idea and I'll make a section specifically to address infect and wither.

With the amount of tokens Hapatra decks can generate, putting Cryptolith Rite in the main deck and including Paradox Engine would be a HUGE combo for mana ramp, especially if From Beyond or Awakening Zone are included (tap for mana, then sac for mana. If a card like Grave Pact is already active, then force your opponents to sac for every one of them). Throw in Throne of the God-Pharaoh for some crazy damage across the table with Cryptolith Rite.
Bontu the Glorified might be a good addition for some life drain and scry as he is cheap to cast and is super easy to activate in this deck. Rhonas the Indomitable is also pretty good for this deck. Easy to activate, pumps up your creatures, can give any infect guys trample (scary), and MORE SNEKS!
Since his cost seams to be coming down (still a bit pricey), look out for Skithiryx, the Blight Dragon. Good WC biggy to take all the focus away from your snake generation.
Heroic Intervention for the instant speed protection, maybe?
This deck can very easily run Planeswalker free, but Garruk, Apex Predator can be another maybeboard addition.

woodgateski for some reason I didn't even consider Paradox Engine, Throne of the God-Pharaoh would be good too. Those definitely move Cryptolith Rite to the front of the line.
The gods are nice, bontu has some real potential. I'd rather have something that gives a buff to everything over rhonas, though I might make mention of him in the infect section for people that use infect.

Looks really awesome! Plus 1 from me! Unfortunately, Crypt Ghast is not legal in Hapatra due to the extort cost.

Dcberens: Reminder text (stuff in parenthesis like this) is NOT part of a card's color identity. Therefore Crypt Ghast color identity is just

With regards to bringing in Akroma's Memorial in place of Concordant Crossroads, am I right in thinking that the protection from black that the monument provides would disable the combos made possible by Quillspike and Blowfly Infestation because they are black?

you need a Black and green commander if you want to run black and green cards. try Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord.
