Newest update has to be
Metallurgic Summonings
I have to get one and figure out what to cut for it
Inexorable Tide for the win! This card is a truly undervalued and underappreciated bomb. With it in play not only do you get an experience counter for every spell you play once you have at least the initial one from Mizzix, but the benefit of giving them to all the charge artifacts. Gemstone Array
+
Pentad Prism
being the better ones to keep charged, while Everflowing Chalice just keeps being able to add more each time you tap it. Other possibly overlooked cards that can strive from proliferation is Titan Forge & Magistrate's Scepter it could be a backbreaker to generate a 9/9 each turn or take infinite turns with the scepter. It keeps the vivid lands, well vivid. pretty much ensuring they'll always be able to tap for either. Also it makes
Mirrodin's Core
a not totally useless land, it basically can function like another guildgate, and a budget exchange if you don't have a
Tendo Ice Bridge
. Vivids and the Core would be very effective in a soon to be 4 color, or 5 color mizzix build. It makes the delpetion lands Sandstone Needle
+
Saprazzan Skerry
into phenomenal lands able to tap for RR and UU without fear of losing them to depletion. It makes storage lands like Mercadian Bazaar
+
Saprazzan Cove
into just a few turns from entering into a method of flooding you with a ton. No joke I've even put Dwarven Hold
+
Sand Silos
into the deck. Seriously Fallen empires storage lands can work to amazing efficency in this deck and any deck that relies upon the proliferate mechanic. I'll take every single land that produces 2 or more mana anyday, of course I'd like to add
Ancient Tomb
but keeping it budget, an Izzet Boilerworks give plenty of lands that ramp you up.
There are several infinite mana combos in the deck, as well as ways to deal infinite damage, draw cards, win with Laboratory Maniac if you choose. most easily to exploit are the Deadeye Navigator + Peregrine Drake
there are several lands that can tap for 2 mana so if you wanted to include COF it would probably work as well. But with them just getting reprinted in eternal masters at common, they'll be easy to come by. Or if you wanted to go all daddy Warbucks with Palinchron be my guest, it's just unnecessary. But don't exclusively soulbond DEN to the drake. cheap permission is achieved by soulbonding with Archaeomancer, Mnemonic Wall or
Nucklavee
with at least 2 experience counters and Rewind you can shut down every spell your opponents play. It's not an unbeatable lock, smart opponents know the timing on stack manipulation, but usually it's scoop city when they see that it turns into. Daddy may I?
Anyway once you have 4 experience counters with Mizzix of the Izmagnus on the battlefield the tide, an Array or Prism and
Searing Touch
it's game over. The deck really combos out well, and will win with the burn mostly but other ways are there, should a player have
Orbs of Warding
or Ivory Mask or some means to prevent all damage dealt to them. super powered Stroke of Genius to draw them out or whatnot. The best cards that you're going to want to tutor for or draw into are obviously the spells with buyback. Whispers of the Muse is great, to draw up at instant speed just before your turn, or to ensure quest counters on
Archmage Ascension
(which you can then also proliferate) as you're digging to your combo. Mizzix does draw a lot of hate, and the deck really does need her to function anywhere near as efficiently as possible. So protection is a must. Darksteel Plate is the best way to achieve this, save the cash from not needing Lightning Greaves and just go with Swiftfoot Boots it'll help you protect things like Young Pyromancer while still being able to target the equiped creature with a kicked copy of Rite of Replication. Could you image it? six elemental 1/1's per instant or sorcery you cast. or getting 5 copies of
Nucklavee
and returning probably every spell in your yard to your hand. I decided to go against Mizzix's Mastery since most of my burn are X spells and they wouldn't really be best suited to be played for free. but a Past in Flames could be a nice addition.
Overall I do love playing this deck, and I've yet to lose when piloting it in my playgroup. They're looking real close at the banhammer. even with the few less lands that are in here compared to most decks, once you get Mizzix going you won't need them.
