Very cool deck; a solid +1!

A few potentials:

clayperce, thanks for the suggestions! Mindswipe is great. Knowledge Exploitation is pretty nasty against the right decks. Ravaging Blaze hits a creature and a player...I like it.

X spells are a very good idea in this deck. That's because when the spell is on the stack, it's converted mana cost INCLUDES X. X can be reduced by Mizzix's ability, so you can use the 8 experience counters from Mizzix to up the X count and converted mana cost of any X spell you play by 8, thus requiring only 1 mana to get an experience counter. You can waste time looking it up yourself (it's rather complicated) so just trust me. Here are some X spells.

Counters: Broken Ambitions, Power Sink , Condescend

Burn: Banefire, Bonfire of the Damned, Demonfire, Fireball, Ravaging Blaze, Comet Storm

Draw: Blue Sun's Zenith, Braingeyser, Breakthrough

Good stuff: Commune with Lava, Distorting Wake

There's a lot of other stuff, but run as mana X spells as you like. Just know that additional costs (like multikicker) do not affect the converted mana cost of a spell on the stack.

I like the counterspell suggestions. X counterspells work well with Mizzix. Thanks, Lanzo493!

I'm thinking about replacing Invoke the Firemind with Snap. I wouldn't mind having more utility so I could bounce my commander back to my hand to avoid commander tax, and then net 1 mana.

Have you thought about infinite hand size? I'm guessing you will be going through spells faster than you could grab them from your deck. Very curious, I love this deck idea.

Thanks, Tman910! I have Reliquary Tower in this deck to take away my maximum hand size. It's not a priority to have no maximum hand size though, since I run Past in Flames and Mizzix's Mastery. It's a fun deck to me because it has a high learning curve. The more you play it, the more interactions and synergies you find. Killing the table with a Comet Storm for 4x their life totals has become my new guilty pleasure.

Thanks magicevan11, totally looked over that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this deck is centered around multiplayer games and politics (which I love btw). I'm still not sure how Coalition Relic would be used, I'm probably just misreading the text. Can you just have a ton of charge counters on it if you don't go into your battle phase? I'm seriously thing using this deck with a few tweaks. I pulled Jace, Vryn's Prodigy  Flip so I may use him as an additional source of flashback (he will probably get targeted super fast), and maybe a Chronozoa to fix the creature problem. Possibly even an Echo Mage?

The deck is made for multiplayer games, yes. I wasn't thinking politics when I made the deck. I see the board wipes as a way to stay alive, however, there is some politics involved. I don't have any creatures, sure, but attack me and feel the wrath of my overloaded Cyclonic Rift or Starstorm. I think some neat political cards to add would be Illusionist's Gambit or Reins of Power. Those aren't up my alley, but I think you'd like them.

Coalition Relic...well as far as I know you can't opt out of your combat phase. Also, relic forces you to remove any charge counters on it. So you can't keep accumulating them over time.

"Creature problem"? Haha. I love not running any creatures in the deck save for my commander. Someone wipes the board, and I'm sitting there shrugging. Don't run baby Jace. He'll get dog piled. You're better off just casting a recursion spell. Echo Mage is okay, but I generally don't like creatures in a Mizzix deck since he gets you more values with instants and sorceries, and the rest of the deck caters to instants and sorceries.

ya, I guess im just missing to see the use of Coalition Relic then, maybe if mana burn was still a thing sure, but I would prefer Pyromancer's Goggles but i guess it still comes all down to personal taste. Still love the deck regardless!

Relic can put you two turns ahead (mana-wise) if you put a charge counter on it. The charge counter is removed during main phase 1, +1 mana, and then you tap it for the other +1 mana. I used to run goggles, but it would cause me such a tempo loss. It's much easier to generate stupid amounts of mana with Inner Fire or Mana Geyser then it is to tap out for goggles, wait a turn, and then copy the spell. Thanks, Tman.

I cant decide which one I like better. Impulse or Peer Through Depths? Impulse let's me get any card while peer only gives me instants or sorceries. Peer goes 1 card deeper though. What do you guys think?

November 6, 2015 4:30 p.m.

Lanzo493 says... #13

Dig Through Time is better ;)

But if you want to choose between those two, it would probably be better to use Peer Through Depths unless you have a creature/artifact/land you would take over an instant or sorcery.

magicevan11 says... #14

Impulse can save me from mana scew in the early game. However, my playtests have shown me that I don't get mana screwed very often. Peer is probably the better choice. I'll be testing regardless. Thank you for the input, Lanzo.

Lanzo493, you'd be surprised by how much every drop of blue mana is worth when going off. Much like U/R storm in modern, this deck generates a lot of red mana with instants and sorceries, but the blue mana comes off the lands. When I'm chaining together spells to set up the combo, Dig Through Time can throw off my game, while a card like Treasure Cruise can keep the plan going.

"Copy Spells

Reverberate, Reiterate, Increasing Vengeance, and Twincast because the only thing better than a Comet Storm for x=40 is two comet storms for x=40!"

If you copy a spell with X in the cost, X is always 0, isn't it?

November 7, 2015 9:32 a.m.

magicevan11 says... #17

On the stack, a comet storm for x=40 gets copied. The copy will share the same x value.

Ihazadeck says... #18

you have Storm Crow, i literally auto concede to it.

November 7, 2015 6:50 p.m.

magicevan11 says... #19

Ihazadeck, it breaks my meta in half. I don't blame you for conceding to it.

November 7, 2015 7:02 p.m.

Lanzo493 says... #20

Then there's that guy who doesn't concede. He gets to face storm crow after a kicked Rite of Replication. Poor guy.

November 7, 2015 7:06 p.m.

magicevan11 says... #21

I just realized that I'm technically playing a storm deck.

Step 1: Make infinite red mana with Reiterate and Seething Song or Inner Fire

Step 2: Cast Storm Crow

Step 3: Kick Rite of Replication on Storm Crow

Step 4: Hold priority and Reiterate with buyback the Rite of Replication

Step 5: Do this till you have a 1,000,000,000 Storm Crow

Step 6: Cast Insurrection and swing.

Mystic Confluence from the new set seems like a no brainer. It's a counterspell that you don't mind copying, or casting for free. It's already $10!

November 14, 2015 4:55 p.m.

magicevan11 says... #23

I love it, but I don't want to spend $10 on it. I'll have to trade for it. Thanks for the suggestion, Araganor.

How does the Turnabout + Reiterate combo work?

November 15, 2015 7:46 p.m.

lemmingllama says... #25

@Awesomenator33 You copy the Turnabout when it is on the stack using Reiterate and buy it back. You untap all your lands and use that mana to recast Reiterate with buyback. Rinse and repeat until you have infinite mana, then you use that to win. Like copying all your spells infinite times with Reiterate
