I don't understand why i never see a Skaab Ruinator in these BU zombie decks. He's so good especially with Grimgrin.

I had him in the original version of this deck but went with more reanimation. Since Skaab Ruinator exiles creatures, I found that he was hindering my gameplan rather than helping it. Most of the creatures have some specific form of utility that I want access to while the ruinator is just a decent flying beater.

This is an awesome deck but you might want to consider adding a Reassembling Skeleton ? If you're having trouble against fast decks it's not a bad card.

I had Reassembling Skeleton in this deck a little while ago and it performed well for me. I just needed more room for other stuff and didn't find him as necessary. Since I generally play 4 player EDH, fast decks usually aren't too bad since they can't focus too much on one person without leaving themselves open.

I am considering exchanging one of my Mind Control type cards for a Gilded Drake , Treachery or Bribery . They each provide different option and opportunities.

  • Bribery gets me anything I want in their deck but doesn't help me control what is currently on the field.
  • Treachery is the same as Mind Control in function but leaves me in a better position.
  • Gilded Drake trades with them but gives them a flyer which is not the best thing for my deck to play against. On the other hand I can switch it to them and then destroy it with GrimGrin, then get it back from my graveyard to use again. It is also the lowest CMC of the 3.

What would you guys do?

You might want to try a Graveborn Muse, I have one in my Grimgrin deck (albeit it's more focused on swarm, hence the name) and it works really well. If you're ever in any danger of being killed by her, you can just sacrifice her to Grimgrin. If you want to get a lot of sacrifices for Grimgrin, and you haven't gotten your Gravecrawler + Rooftop Storm combo yet, you can try Ghoulcaller Gisa, and maybe even Smothering Abomination. He detracts from your total sacrifices, but nets you a lot of card draw. I use all of these cards in my deck, and they all work quite well. My deck can be found here:

It's still a work in progress, though, and has had limited play testing against other decks.

Gravecrawler and Phyrexian Altar go infinite as well. I know the altar isn't cheap financially but might not be a bad add. I'm surprised you aren't running Living Death board wipe and mass reainmator all in one. Malicious Affliction is a good targeted removal if you feel a need for some of that. Also Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Cabal Coffers solve a lot of manna issues.

Interesting to see the steal creature spells. Never considered that in a zombie deck, seems fun to play tho. Have you considered Gray Merchant of Asphodel? He has a great ETB effect and with good devotion and recursion can be deadly.

My favorite zombie to grab with Buried Alive is Vengeful Pharaoh. Also Prized Amalgam if you have a ton of great graveyard recursion.

Also, if you are looking for zombies to sacrifice, I find Noosegraf Mob does the job for me, but I am playing Gisa and Geralf so I am all about the grave shenanigans and end up playing him a bunch.
